If the song Pink Pony Club came to life as a workout experience, I imagine it would look like the lululemon Glow Up Studio. Between the iconic trainers, the pink-hued two-floor studio, and new products for purchase from the Glow Up collection, the pop-up was a fitness fever dream.
It was Glow time! For two weeks only the lululemon Glow Up Studio gave fitness fans of all types a once-in-a-lifetime chance to train, spin, dance, and flow like never before. The can’t-miss workouts were taught by legendary trainers with live DJs, plus special events with their favorite faces in fitness.
On opening night, the energy was already electric with a blowout event featuring DJ sets by QuestLove and Zainab Hasnain DiStasio, plus a moment to show your glow with the one and only Cole Walliser and his GLAMbot high-speed camera.
Every type of fitness class imaginable was available, and while I’m a CrossFit chica and a wannabe runner who has finished six half-marathons, I couldn’t help but want to step out of my comfort zone. The list of classes made me giddy with excitement— from popular Peloton instructor Cody Rigsby and Sculpt Society founder Megan Roup to yogi Eric Mosley and Taylor Swift’s trainer / Dogpound founder Kirk Myers. It was an insane line-up.
Yet, I really wanted to reach for the stars—and kick my legs high—and that meant only one class: The Rockettes.
LIST OF INSTRUCTORS: Adrian Williams • Akin Akman • Callie Gullickson • Chelsea Jackson Roberts • Cody Rigsby • Corey Calliet • Dani Coleman • Danielle Carafos • Erika Hammond • Eric MoslEy • Jason Rodriguez • Jeremiah Maestre • Joey Gonzalez • Johnny Venus • Kelly Cole • Keoni Hudoba • Kira Stokes • Kirk Myers • Korey Rowe • Kristin Sudeikis • Laurie Cole • Lia Bartha • Megan Roup • Robert Cadiz Saldarriaga • Ryan Leier • Sophia Goldstein • Sydney Miller • Taryn Toomey • The Radio City Rockettes
I joined the world-famous Rockettes to learn their signature precision technique in a high-energy dance class. The only time I dance is after a few glasses of wine in a dark club. This couldn’t have been more of a different atmosphere. The hour-long class took us through one of their famous Christmas numbers and, of course, gave us a deep dive into the Eye-High Kicks. The Rockettes can kick up to 650 times in one day and do more than 160 kicks per show, sometimes performing up to four shows a day during busy periods! My hips were creaky after just one class, but it was exhilarating.
The class was girl power personified—everyone laughing, supporting each other, and mesmerized by the talent of the instructors. It was a mixed bag of levels—some girls looking to try out for the Rockettes this year, and others, like me, who shimmy for funsies. During the class, I wore my new body-hugging Glow Up gear. I also rocked some lululemon shoes and socks as well as a recently purchased Align shirt.
The following evening, to celebrate female power, there was an International Women’s Day Panel and Party. The unforgettable panel of four fearless, iconic, trailblazing women was followed by a reception featuring a live DJ set from Va$htie.
