David Alan Grier, Allison Tolman, and the cast of ‘St. Denis Medical’ discuss what audiences should expect from the new season streaming on NBC and Peacock.
The mockumentary-style series, St. Denis Medical follows a group of doctors and nurses at an understaffed Oregon hospital. The staff faces unpredictable situations as they navigate patient care and their personal lives. With the series returning for Season 3, the cast ensures more laughs, guest stars, and new sides to their characters.
Season 2 of St. Denis Medical left audiences with lingering questions. Most notably, the brewing relationship between nurses Matt and Serena. During an interview, Kahyun Kim, who plays Serena, shares, “I think Matt brings out a very vulnerable part of Serena.” Their romance reveals new sides in both characters, letting the audience join them on the journey. Another uncertainty at the end of last season was Doctor Ron waking up from surgery and asking for the Executive Director, Joyce. David Alan Grier, who plays Ron, assures us that we’ll have to watch to find out, but that “there is a lot of romance budding and flourishing amongst the cast.”
While the core cast is the heart of the series, its guest stars have also become an integral part of the series’ identity. Some of the previous guest stars have included Mandy Sterling, Nico Santos, Ariana Madix, and Wayne Knight. Season 3 welcomes Damon Wayans, who brings even more personality and unexpected moments. When discussing the reunion between Wayans and Grier, executive producer Eric Ledgin expresses, “Seeing that the two of them, after all these years, still have this very palpable kind of dynamic and chemistry between them.” ‘St Denis Medical’ keeps audiences constantly surprised and on the edge of their seat, which is part of what makes the series so enjoyable.
The workplace comedy provides laughs, relatable characters, and workplace drama that makes it worth the watch. Check out our full interview above to hear more from the cast about what to expect heading into Season 3.
