An unforgettable evening at Bathhouse Studios brought together music, artistry, Black excellence and more in celebration of Afrobeats’ global influence.
On Oct. 28, Maison Martell unveiled its Martell VS Afrobeats Limited Edition bottle at New York City’s Bathhouse Studios, bringing together Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido and acclaimed Ghanaian visual artist Prince Gyasi for a special celebration. Hosted by Martell Culture Ambassador Adesope Olajide, widely known as Shopsydoo, the invitation-only affair welcomed an impressive gathering of creatives and curators across entertainment, art, and fashion. From the music to the warmth of the crowd, there was an undeniable sense of Black excellence and joy in the air.
At the heart of the evening was the limited-edition bottle designed by Gyasi, featuring Davido’s portrait through his distinctive artistic lens. Inspired by the sounds, rhythms, and landscapes of West Africa, the design blends Martell’s signature blue with rich gold tones and vivid soundwaves symbolizing Davido’s global reach.

During an insightful fireside conversation, both artists reflected on their creative journeys and the significance of the collaboration. Gyasi spoke about the influence of his Ghanaian heritage on his artistry, highlighting “patience, purpose, and humility” as guiding values.
Davido also reflected on Martell’s continued support of African music and culture. “Every campaign, there’s always music involved and art, but I feel like this one has been really amplified,” he shared. Speaking about his longstanding relationship with the brand, he added, “I feel like it’s more than a partnership. It’s more like family.” The celebration also featured a thoughtfully curated cocktail menu inspired by African cities and culture. Signature creations included the Nigerian Swift Sour, Lagos Glow, Martell Afrobeats Mix, and Accra After Dark, adding another colorful element to the evening’s festivities.
