NOLCHA’s main NYFW show was headlined by Samantha Leibowitz, ACID NYC, and Lavanya Coodly.
The 4:30 pm fashion show featured “Made in NYC” brands Samantha Leibowitz and and ACID NYC. Leibowitz designed a men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collection that had laid-back looks and items that can separately be worn and matched with other looks.
Each look was simplistic, but Leibowitz genius shined through in her ability to change one outfit into two. With a simple pull and tie of a string a red, silk onesie become a textured dress.
Leibowitz stuck to simple colors and presented outfits for almost every occasion. Her fringed bodysuits and her classic leather skirt were the stunners of her show.
ACID NYC is a men’s and women’s brand made by a husband and wife duo. The collection featured unique prints with a robot/transformer theme, that was fun and vibrant. The duo brought velvet jumpsuits back in style and focused on body-con outfits from jackets to dresses that would complement the curves of the woman wearing it. Their unique backpacks managed to steal the show and the metallic prints on their many clutches stood out.
Lavanya Coodly got her design inspiration from India, with materials sourced in the USA but hand-embroidered in India. Many of her pieces were delicately embroidered with lace and floral embroidery that had a lot of texture. She stunned with her coats and beaded chiffon dresses, and made beautiful gold pants for men. Her plaids scarfs are able to fit in with many different outfits and she created simple totes are that sure to fly off the shelves or get sold out.
Nolcha is presented by Loreal, Citi, bai and cookie pop popcorn.
