The Independent NOLCHA fashion shows impressed during New York Fashion Week and the designers did not fail to impress. Every year the show gets turned up a notch.
Home to indie brands, the show designers featured their Fall/Winter 2017 collection at Artbeam Studios in NYC. A total of nine runway shows took place and the show provided new and upcoming designers a platform to showcase their talents and collections.
Nolcha kicked out their shows with “Ones To Watch” at 1pm, which featured designs from Mariana Valentina, Chèlbè, Son Collection, and Just In Case.
Mariana Valentina was a great opener for the show with her Arabian inspired statement dresses. She designed head dresses and gowns that looked comfortable and flowed eloquently. Her stunning choice of colors from yellow, turquoise, and hot pink on gowns that had sexy silhouettes and cuts outs have the ability to be seen on the red carpet.
She designed a hot pink off the shoulder, slit cut slit dress that made people gasp from its beauty. The originality of it seemed effortless, but its something that hasn’t been seen before with a long-sleeved arm on one side and a spaghetti strap reveal on the other.
Just In Case featured unique men’s and women’s streetwear from Taiwan. The collection had diverse materials that popped in his jackets and the designer concentrated on layers, cuts, and textures. Although the brand featured Taiwanese looks, British-rocker influence shined through in many of his suits and jackets, which made a beautiful combination.
Son Collection was designed for a classy woman that loves her brunches and galas. It featured beautiful gowns and sundresses, from a array of colors and styles. Any girl wearing this collection from Son would feel classy, pretty, and unstoppable. She will turn heads everywhere she goes.
Chèlbè was a collection made for a tall woman 5ft11+ in mind. These looks can be seen on any woman with sophisticated style and can be worn to work or a night out in town. Each item could easily be pieced differently with others, and the simple color palette was a perfect way to design for all women’s taste in mind.
The first show concluded with Stevenson University, a group of students who each put their spin on a little black dress. They featured a variety of looks and fits for different personality from the pretty chic girl to the grungy personality. No look was the same but could’ve be seen as ready-to-wear on or in stores immediately. The stunner of their show was a mini body con dress that had a detachable long bubble skirt.
Nolcha is presented by Loreal, Citi, bai and cookie pop popcorn.
