Indian movies have now come to America
In celebration of Diwali, the upcoming Indian New Year, and their new streaming service “BigFlix”, Reliance hosted a special dinner in Midtown Manhattan at the well known Indian restaurant, Utsav. The night started off with guests mingling and getting settled in with drinks and appetizers. The appetizers served ranged from marinated cauliflower to tandoori paneer to chicken tikka. As the night progressed, the CEO of Reliance made a speech about their new streaming service, “BigFlix.” What is great about BigFlix is that there is now a service, similar to Netflix, where South Asians living in the USA can stream Indian movies. Usually when South Asians in the USA want to watch an Indian movie, they have to resort to getting a pirated copy of the movie, not because they don’t want to pay a movie theater price, but simply because these movies are unavailable in the theaters or unavailable in a DVD format.
BigFlix has partnered with all the major Indian movie production companies and is now streaming over 2000 movies in 9 different languages. And with their price point of $1.99 a month, so many Indians living in the West can watch their movies in high quality and to completion. After the CEO finished his speech about this new service, guests were invited to enjoy a dinner buffet of some of the best Indian food you can find in Manhattan. The dinner options ranged from a typical jasmine rice to malai kofta and the dessert consisted of gulab jamun and mango mousse. Once guests left, they were treated to a gift bag which contained a code that allowed guests to enjoy a full year of BigFlix streaming. So, if you are Indian and are tired of watching a low quality, pirated movie then subscribe to BigFlix and enjoy any movie to your heart’s content.
