The “Fit For A Queen” show precedes the release of the newest docu-series “QUEENS” on National Geographic, Disney+, and Hulu.
This New York Fashion Week has seen its share of cool experiences. Saturday evening brought on one of the most innovative of the week.
National Geographic held their “Fit For A Queen” immersive show at Moonlight Studios. The show’s uniqueness stems from giant screens which surrounded the runway that displayed powerful female animals. The show was inspired by the new National Geographic docu-series “QUEENS” which will air on March 4 on Nat Geo and a day later on Disney+ and Hulu.
“QUEENS” is one of the only animal docu-series to be led by a crew of women—a feat that was highlighted by producers Faith Musembi and Vanessa Berlowitz at the runway experience.

The docu-series tells a tale of friendship, love, and perseverance through the perspectives of matriarchies and female animal leaders from throughout the globe. “QUEENS” is the first documentary of its kind to put feminine animals at its forefront. Aside from the story’s intriguing premise, “QUEENS” is narrated by award winning actress Angela Bassett.
“Fit For A Queen” saw looks from designers JêBlanc, Sergio Hudson, Bohn Jsell, AnOnlyChild, Head of State, Theophilio, Studio 189, Bed on Water, Almasika, and L’Enchanteur, while footwear was curated by Téjahn Burnet. Stylist and consultant Sakinah Bashir spearheaded all curation details.

Each look took on an aspect of nature. For example, JêBlanc’s crystallized silhouette served as an analogy to water. The jewels dripped off the model as they glistened down the runway. Most patterns were animal print as well. It was a lovely correlation between the looks and the digital displays. And to add to the entire show, models not only walked, but danced while making their way across the runway. The show perfectly used movement, design, and immersion to truly give the audience a feel for “QUEENS”
“QUEENS”, narrated by Angela Bassett, will premiere on Nat Geo on March 4, and stream on Disney+ and Hulu from March 5.
