Bonobo – “Kerala”
The mellow beat king has returned with a chill-inducing song that also doubles as a preview of his forthcoming album. The track is sprinkled with a soft, haunting vocal sample provided by Brandy. It is layered over a steady muted bass kick-drum, taking the listener on one hell of a mystical journey. His 6th studio album is set to drop in January 2017 and is definitely not one to miss as it will include collaborations with Nick Murphy (aka Chet Faker), Michael Milosh (Rhye), Nicole Miglis (Hundred Waters), and more. As long as the name Bonobo is attached to it you can be sure that you’re in for a quality piece of music.

On Dead Waves – “Blue Inside”
With the rise of Β female/male indie-folk duos, it’s hard to distinguish those that have successfully crafted their own sound to stand out as the black sheep in a field full of white sheep. On Dead Waves isn’t necessarily a household name (yet) but their music could easily land them a similar trajectory to that of popular shoegaze/dream-pop act, Beach House. “Blue Inside” is a nostalgic musical treat that makes you want to drive along the coast on a cold autumn night. The soft vocals and hypnotic guitar licks make for a warm and cinematic listening experience.

Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions – “Let Me Get There (ft. Kurt Vile)
What do you get when you combine Mazzy Star‘s Hope Sandoval, My Bloody Valentine‘s ColmΒ ΓΒ CΓosΓ³ig and Kurt Vile? This glorious dream pop record. The track contains the perfect combination of Hope’s gentle vocals and rough, shoegaze acoustics that take us back to the years when MBV first introduced the world to this magical genre. Vile’s voice provides just the right amount of soft masculine twang to counterbalance the underlying sensuality of the song. While it runs a little long (at 7 minutes), every second is worth the listen as it builds toward a climactic soulful guitar riff.

The Cinematic Orchestra – “To Believe”
The world fell in love with The Cinematic Orchestra upon hearing their piano-driven 2008 smash hit “To Build A Home”, which has since then been featured in pretty much every drama series ever.Β If you had to categorize the type of music that these guys compose, you would have to go no further than their band name. It’s a melangΓ© of symphonic sounds with modern electronica samples that create tracks perfect to complement a moving image. “To Believe” – not falling short from the rest of TCO’s catalog – takes the listener on an emotionally stirring musical journey. We wouldn’t recommend listening to this one if you’re looking for a solid mood booster. However, if staring out of a taxi window while contemplating your life decisions is your thing, this is definitely the song for you.

Kiiara – “dopemang (feat. Ashley All Day)”
Kiiara, the unique 21-year-oldΒ left-of-center pop singer, is back on the charts after monopolizing the radio with teen summer favorite, “Gold”. Β Her promising new single highlights the singer’s ability to tackle different styles of music. In comparison to the minimalistic, electro-pop “Gold”, which showcasesΒ Kiiara‘sΒ delicate and unique vocals , “dopemang” is a more upbeat, flavorful track. The rising star will be playing two shows in NYC next week. We highly recommend you check her out!
