Long Branch celebrated cultural diversity through food, music, art, and community with Culture Around the Corner, a free three-day festival that took place from Oct. 2 to Oct. 4.
The event was presented by Monmouth Arts with funding from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority; it featured local vendors, live performances, interactive activities, and family-friendly entertainment across multiple locations.
The festival kicked off Friday at Slocum Park and the Long Branch Free Public Library, followed by Saturday’s activities at the Art Yard at the Union Avenue Municipal Lot and Sunday’s celebration at Whitechapel Projects.
Food was a major attraction, with vendors serving dishes inspired by cultures from around the world. Festivalgoers could enjoy Korean fusion tacos, Thai barbecue, Jamaican patties, Mexican tacos, Salvadoran specialties, and Polish street food. Classic festival favorites, desserts, and refreshing drinks were also available.

Music and dance performances highlighted the weekend’s diverse lineup, featuring artists and groups representing a variety of traditions and genres. Performers included the Ocean Avenue Stompers, Dub Assassins, Viva Vallenato Cumbia Trio, Hellenic Dancers of New Jersey, Hawaiian Hula Dancers, and Capoeira Sol Nascente. Additional performances throughout the weekend included hip-hop, brass band music, Indian dance, and Colombian cumbia.
Beyond the stage, attendees explored local artists, handmade goods, and creative businesses. The Long Branch Free Public Library also hosted “Faces of Long Branch,” an exhibition that highlighted the people and stories that shape the community. Chalk drawing, hands-on art projects, and children’s activities provide opportunities for visitors to participate.

Organizers say the festival aims to create an inclusive space where residents can discover new cultures, support local businesses, and connect through shared experiences.
