On Tuesday evening, Silver Oak and luxury backgammon brand Throwing Doubles welcomed guests to 7 Spring in New York City to unveil a limited-edition backgammon set that brings together a classic board game and a bold California cabernet.
Analog games have been steadily reclaiming their place at the center of the dinner party, and with the holiday season around the corner, the timing of this partnership feels intentional. The pairing rests on a simple idea: a good bottle of wine and a little rivalry make for a memorable night in.

The evening on Oct. 13 played out like a well-hosted game night. Silver Oak wines were poured throughout, light bites made their way around the room, and live music kept the mood relaxed as guests settled in at the boards. No prior backgammon experience was required, so seasoned players and curious first-timers ended up rolling dice side by side, the kind of easygoing competition that keeps a room talking well into the night.
The centerpiece was the set itself. Handmade in Los Angeles by Throwing Doubles exclusively for Silver Oak, the leather board arrives in a custom Cabernet-red colorway finished with an embossed Silver Oak logo. Only 100 sets were produced, and each is paired with a bottle of the 2022 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, turning the board into a ready-made invitation to slow down and gather around the table.

For Throwing Doubles, the collaboration places its handcrafted boards alongside one of California’s established cabernet houses. For Silver Oak, it extends the brand beyond the glass and into the ritual of hosting, where the conversation and the game often matter as much as what is being poured.
As guests traded turns and refilled glasses, the reveal made its case without much effort. Some traditions are worth bringing back, especially when they come with a great bottle of red.
