New York City’s social scene took a theatrical turn on Saturday, Sept. 26, as the 2026 Dionysus Gala transformed the iconic Surrogate Courthouse into a 007-inspired evening of fashion, entertainment and philanthropy.
Located at 31 Chambers St., the courthouse welcomed guests for an evening that combined the grandeur of its historic architecture with the energy of a modern New York party. Attendees arrived in black tie, walking the red carpet before entering the venue, where casino tables, cocktails and live entertainment set the tone for the night.

The Casino Royale theme carried throughout the event, with gaming tables arranged across both floors of the courthouse. Guests moved between the different spaces to try their luck, socialize and enjoy the evening’s activations. An open bar and music added to the atmosphere, creating a setting that brought together formal elegance and downtown nightlife.
Live performances were among the evening’s highlights. Opera and ballet brought a theatrical element to the program, complementing the venue’s architecture and the event’s old-world aesthetic. The combination offered a different take on the traditional gala, balancing classical performance with the more relaxed atmosphere of a casino-themed party.
Fashion also played a central role. With black tie as the dress code, guests embraced formalwear and statement evening looks for the occasion. The red carpet provided an opportunity to showcase their outfits against the courthouse’s historic facade, adding another visual element to the evening.

The gala was hosted by Luke Hawksworth, Anisha Raju, Brian Ruballos, Jonathan Smith and Zissis Konstas. Liore Group handled event production and bar catering, while BFA and Erumuse photographed the evening. Sponsors included Partiful, PRSM, San Bartolo Mezcal and Giovanni Volpe Prosecco.
The setting remained one of the evening’s defining features. The Surrogate Courthouse, known for its grand architecture, offered a distinctive backdrop for an event that brought together fashion, performance and casino entertainment. Rather than taking place in a conventional ballroom or nightclub, the gala made use of the historic building’s two floors to create different spaces for guests to explore.
Throughout the evening, attendees circulated between the gaming tables, bar and performances, with opportunities to socialize and take in the surroundings. The result was a gathering that drew on the glamour associated with Casino Royale while retaining the social energy of New York’s downtown event scene.
