Clean Beauty Brands You Need to Know About

Skincare without the use of harsh chemicals that are bad for us and the environment is a trend everyone should like, subscribe, and follow.

With more consumers looking for ethically sourced, environmentally friendly, beauty products made with natural ingredients; up and coming beauty brands are giving consumers those options. ApotheCARE Essentials Skincare, MĀSK, and Good Science Beauty are three brands on my radar that are making clean beauty their priority.

ApotheCARE Essentials launched earlier this year with a mission ” to redefine modern beauty with the revered purity of nature and the meticulous precision and progression of advanced science.” ApotheCARE has a three-step process when it comes to curating their products to create their plant-based formulas or Phyto-blends. With extracted ingredients from white willow bark, sage leaf, rosemary leaf, and many other plants, ApotheCARE promises high-performance plant-based formulas. While they have a range of body, hair, and skincare lines, their skincare line grabbed my attention.

Phyto-young, Phyto-defend, and Phyto-replenish are the three collections in ApotheCARE’s skincare line. The Phyto-young collection uses Blackberry and Ginkgo leaf to support collagen levels. The Phyto-defend collection uses extract from White Willow Bark and Persian Silk Bark to help strengthen the skin’s defense from daily pollutants and free radicals. Phyto-quench helps to maintain water retention in the skin using Japanese Blood Grass Root alongside Burdock Root. With products from facial cleansers, serums, eye creams, and masks there is something for everyone to try.

I love the idea of adding plant based products into my skincare routine. I’m also excited to see a brand put forth effort in educating their users on what goes into their products and why. Keep in mind that the products can be mixed and matched to create a regimen that works best for you. Living in a city full of pollutants, the Phyto-defend line is a perfect match for me. After incorporating Phtyo-defend protecting serum, I’ve found my skin doesn’t appear so tired and dull by the end of the day.

MĀSK, a CBD infused skincare line, launched recently and is already creating a buzz. CBD or Cannabidiol is a natural compound found in the cannabis plant. With scientific and medical research surrounding CBD’s medicinal properties, CBD has become more than just a trend. With all the attention it’s received, it’s not shocking that CBD has made its way into the beauty and skincare industry.

MĀSK recently held an event to celebrate the launch of their CBD infused sheet masks where celebrities and influencers made appearances to show support to the emerging brand. Celebrity Models, Younes Bendjima and Tiffany Meia, hosted the event but what was most exciting for us skin-care loving attendees; we were given the opportunity to try the sheet masks ourselves. Good Science Beauty, founded by Dr. Suzanne Saffie-Siebert Ph.D., has been in the making for almost ten years. Good Science Beauty uses the natural mineral Silicon (not to be confused with human-made silicone) which is already found in the body. The patented Good Silicon+ was developed to carry various ingredients and assist in making them more effective. Of their six products, the one I instantly fell in-love with is the ‘002-Re: Skin Renewing Polishing Powder’. The esthetician performing my facial demonstrated how a little can go a long way. A few sprinkles of The Skin Renewing Polishing Powder mixed with a little water and the active ingredients Bentonite clay, Tumeric and Vitamin E gently exfoliate the skin. The 002-Re: Skin Renewing Powder paired with 003-Hy: Hydrating Face Cream left my skin feeling and looking refreshed.

It’s clear a lot of science went into these products, hence the name “Good Science Beauty”, but they are also another brand that cares about the consumer enough to be transparent about what exactly are in their products. Some of the ingredients carried by the Good Silicon+ we hear about in skin care frequently like hyaluronic acid, willow bark extract, and bentonite clay. Their level of transparency and their use of clean and ethically sourced ingredients makes them a poster child for effective clean beauty. After learning what went into making these products and seeing first hand how effective they are, the higher price tag doesn’t come as surprise.
