What if there was a way to incorporate a clothing brand’s dead stock into a sustainable project for college students?
The β47 Redesign fashion show did just that. The event showcased several flamboyant designs by Pratt Institute students created out of β47Β apparel pieces with a mission to promote sustainability and aspiring designers. The evening saw no shortage of unique perspectives and innovative designs featuring hand knitted jersey, packaged waste jackets, and deconstructed tailoring.
Four selected students came together to feature their designs in a runway show for Rochambeau, musical artist VΓ©ritΓ©, and the Pratt faculty to select the winner. The “Deconstruct/Reconstructβ course allows fashion students to experiment with β47βs dead stock and create pieces that embody the designer’s vision.
