The Summer Seat by Amex Gold and Resy was crowned the winner of the weekend as the royal treatment was rolled out at Bonnie’s in Brooklyn.
A collab for the memory book, the restaurant’s outdoor space was brilliantly transformed into a captivating exhibit showcasing New York sports and culinary excellence. Bonnie‘s in Brooklyn’s very own chef and founder, Calvin Eng, partnered with Australian-Chinese artist Leon Zhan for a weekend of wonder and delights.

As part of The Summer Seat project, the worlds of good food and great art blended for a magical night as part of the incredible partnerships that this season take local artists with dining hotspots and give a new vision to outdoor dining spaces that are immersive cultural destinations. First, things kicked off in Los Angeles where renowned painter, muralist, and designer Abel Macias transformed Lasita’s vibrant Chinatown patio.

What followed in Williamsburg with Bonnie’s was an ongoing part of dazzling days that only American Express can deliver. From an exclusive outdoor-only menu with specialty dishes and cocktails, complimentary food and beverage offerings, and custom gifts, it made for a perfect way to make summer sizzle.
“This collaboration is very exciting to me because I get to work with local artists to help bring so much life into our back patio,” said Eng. “Everything we do at Bonnie‘s is so personal to me and being able to draw inspiration from my childhood home and garden was so special.”
Exquisite bites served up and cool curated cocktails added to a delightful experience full of creative innovation. The surrounding good vibes of Zhan’s tribute to New York sports with symbols from the Knicks to the Mets harmonized with delicious menu offerings during the sold-out seating. To witness the collab was to take part in a team effort that was produced to please all the senses at once. From the visuals to the tastes it was a feast for the senses.
“Amex Gold and Resy have been amazing partners over the years and are always open to new and cool ideas,” the chef with the greatest staff in Brooklyn said. “Combining art and design with food makes the dining experience that much more unique for guests.”

Next up, is another incredible experience in Chicago from August 13 to 16. Artist Ben Giska will draw inspiration from Xochipilli (“The Flower Prince”), an Aztec deity linked to flowers, music, and artistic expression, to create a flora-filled multimedia experience evoking Mi Tocaya’s restaurant’s reverence for Mexican heritage with a modernist sensibility.
