Diarra Kilpatrick, Jon Chaffin, Bryan Terrell Clark, and DomiNque Perry share what’s in store for the new unexpected mystery in Season 2 of ‘Diarra From Detroit’ on Paramount+.
Diarra From Detroit focuses on the chaotic life of recently divorced schoolteacher Diarra Brickland. In the upcoming season, she finds herself in another risky, high-stakes mystery. Following Season 1, Diarra is hopeful for a peaceful summer, but a simple mission takes the wrong turn, dragging her through a new side of Detroit’s criminal world.
During our interview with the cast, they shared that the stakes are much higher this season, leading to more action and character development than audiences previously saw. Diarra Kilpatrick explains, “This time she has to solve a triple homicide, and someone that she knows and loves is being accused of it, so it’s important that she tries to save him.” The love between the characters in Diarra From Detroit drives their choices and willingness to dive headfirst into the unpredictable. Although real life may not be that simple, the unexpected loyalty throughout the series is what makes it unique and intriguing.
Bryan Terrell Clark and DomiNque Perry, who portray Brickland’s best friends in the show, reveal that audiences can expect to see new sides of their characters. Clark shares that, as Mr. Tea, “following his delusional friend, he’s confronted with some things about who he is and his past, so he definitely ends the season in a very different place than where he started.” While solving the mystery, each character continues to evolve.
