The Knockturnal had the privilege of attending Prom Pact’s premiere on the pink carpet at the Wilshire Ebell theater. The red carpet attendees were dressed accordingly, with colorful prom dresses to fit the theme of the 80’s promposals displayed in the film. (Graham) stated that their favorite part of working on the movie was becoming friends with each other. Milo recalls sitting on his balcony after a workday, and discussing the craft of acting with his peers. The pink carpet displayed how tight-knit the cast was, with each Disney star jumping at the opportunity to support their friend, or hug a castmate on camera.
Peyton Elizabeth Lee and Milo Manheim worked together on season 2 of Disney+’s show, “Doogie Kamaloha”, which premiered the same night as Prom Pact. Members of the Doogie cast joined the pink carpet in support of their peers.
As we entered the Wilshire theater, we were offered boutonnieres for the occasion. Once inside the theater, Peyton Elizabeth Lee gave a speech about how meaningful this role was to her, thanking the cast and crew, including the Executive Producers: Julie Bowen, Anya Adams, Melvin Mar, Rachael Field and Jake Kasdan, and the writer, Anthony Lombardo. The movie takes place during high school prom season, but the main character Mandy (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) is more focused on her goal to get into Harvard. Crushed that she was waitlisted, she decides to get closer to Graham Lansing (Blake Draper), a popular jock she has never seen eye to eye with. Mandy finds a way to tutor Graham in order to get a recommendation letter from Graham’s father, the senator and a Harvard alum. Chaos ensues as Mandy navigates her interpersonal relationships with Graham, and her anxious best friend Ben, who supports her every step of the way. Mandy realizes there’s more to Graham than she thought, and she loses sight of her best friend Ben’s needs as she pursues her own goals to get into Harvard and get asked to prom.
The after party felt like post-prom! There was a photo station, a dance floor, makeup station, appetizers, and a bar. There was even an ice cream sundae bar. The after party was the perfect environment to celebrate the feel-good movie, Prom Pact.
