A humid New York City was transformed into a tropical paradise to celebrate National Rum Day on August 16th with the help of Bacardi at Las’ Lap in the Lower East Side.
Guests sipped on exclusive limited edition beach-ready cocktails made from premium rums from the Bacardi Limited portfolio, including the Bacardi Premium Rums, Havana Club, Santa Teresa 1796, Banks, and the Facundo Rum Collection. Fauna covered the intimate Las’ Lap as flower-adorned drinks were served, and attendees posed in front of an entryway flamingo statue.
Orange is the New Black star Dascha Polanco even stepped behind the bar to assist Las’ Lap beverage director and 2017 Bacardi US Legacy winner Darnell Holguin with the summer Friday happy hour drink menu. Polanco shook up a Bacardi Reserva Ocho for the Rum-Around cocktail, teasing her upcoming album and highly-anticipated role in upcoming In The Heights.
Bargoers throughout New York can also taste the August-only cocktails at a variety of participating venues such as The Lookup in Midtown for Polanco’s drink of choice, the strawberry and rosé Rum-Around; the Grand Republic Cocktail Club in Greenpoint for the peach brandy and lime ginger beer-infused Brooklyn Admiral; Paper Daisy in East Village for the Venezuelan Colada; and Cecconi’s in Dumbo for the Three Hour Tour with bitters and coconut oil. Las’ Lap will also continue serving the Take Flight cocktail, a smoky pineapple and brown sugar rum twist on a classic drink.
As cocktails ceased and guests began to exit, they were reminded to raise their rum to the final drops of summer with Bacardi. Cheers to that!
