On August 26, American Express welcomed the US Open tennis tournament with ‘Rally on the River’, a hydro-interactive tennis experience featuring professional tennis players Maria Sharapova, John Isner, and Monica Puig, as well as comedic actor Kevin James and electro-funk duo Chromeo. Fans watched as Sharapova, James, Puig, Isner, and a few lucky members in the crowd stepped onto the court to use the interactive tennis rackets which translate in real-time every swing, lob, and smash onto a massive 40×60′ wall of water. The event was a continuation of American Express’ long going legacy of bringing fans closer to the game they love through unique and interactive experiences. They also just announced a multi-year partnership with Sharapova, resulting in great new experiences such as “You Vs. Sharapova”, a virtual reality experience to feature a live action and CGI version of an athlete to create a unique user experience.
