Small Engine Repair is now playing in theaters.
Small Engine Repair follows three friends Frankie (John Pollono), Swaino (Jon Bernthal), and Packie (Shea Whigham). They are lifelong friends from New England. In this dark comedy, Frankie creates a plan for revenge that spins wildly out of control. Jon Bernthal told the Knockturnal, “It’s a movie that’s impossible to go see and regret that you spent the money.”
John Pollono wrote the play Small Engine Repair that was created into this amazing film. The movie was previously a play that was electric and stared John Pollono and Jon Bernthal. The play had a lot of success and built a cult-like following. Bernthal explained that preforming the play was like a “rock concert.” Finally the funding and scheduled worked out so the play could be produced into a film. Pollono and Bernthal teamed up again to produce this movie, they brought Shea Whigham to join them in acting in this movie.
John Pollono grew up in New Hampshire and wrote this script for his home state. They created a film with sets, accents, and culture were so realistic to New Hampshire. Pollono explained how they really embraced the New Hampshire sub-culture. They learned how to develop a realistic Manchester, New Hampshire accent.
