Paul also talked about his character Todd on the critically acclaimed Netflix show ‘Bojack Horseman’
The Final Fantasy franchise has been around since the 1980s. In the past 30 years, spinoffs of these popular video games have hit and largely missed. The latest is Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, which acts as a prequel to set up the acts of the upcoming latest installment in the game series proper Final Fantasy XV. We at The Knockturnal were lucky enough to get the chance to talk to the film’s star Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad, Bojack Horseman) about his voice role in this latest piece of animation.
While the Breaking Bad star did voice work for both Kingsglaive and Bojack, the two projects were “night and day,” said Paul. “With Bojack, they animated over our voices. With this it was already on film and then they animated over that. We had to put our voices within that specific window, so we didn’t have the same freedom as we did on Bojack.”
Paul has been doing phenomenal work as Todd this season, and was especially proud of a late season reveal that changed everything we thought we knew about the character, while still being very much in line with the way the show handles serious topics. [Spoilers lie ahead if you have not finished Bojack Horseman season 3]. “It does not surprise me whatsoever,” Paul told us. “From the beginning Bojack has been telling stories that haven’t been told all that much. It makes me so proud to be a part of that show. And I’m very proud to be one of — if not the first — openly asexual characters on television.”
Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV comes to select theaters for one weekend starting August 19th.
