June 25, 2016 – Bridgehampton, The American Heart Association Hamptons Heart Ball took place with 500+ guests attending and $600,000 raised.
Stepping out to the Hamptons in the summer is a tradition for many New Yorkers. But to be able to spend the evening under the stars for The American Heart Association’s Hamptons Heart Ball is a special treat.
With attendees including Star Jones, Dr. Aubrey Galloway, Dr. Leonard Girard, Jean Shafiroff, artist Renea Menzies, Gary DePersia, and many more, the 20th Annual Hamptons Heart Ball is always a stunning opportunity to give. The guests spent the evening at the Hayground School in Bridgehampton and the space was transformed into a party scene like no other. The guests raised nearly $600,000 to help in the fight against cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
With a three course dinner provided by Garden City Hotel and a cocktail hour during which a silent auction took place, guests finally took their seats and heard from Lonnie Quinn, Chief Weather Caster and Kristine Johnson, News Anchor, CBS 2 News, served as Master of Ceremonies. They announced former honorees, life-changing stories and more. The live auction, conducted by Robbie Gordy of Christie’s, included fabulous items such as a heart shaped ruby and diamond ring and a VIP ski trip to Aspen.
This year’s honorees were Jean Shafiroff (dressed in a stunning Oscar de la Renta gown), Humanitarian, Author and Philanthropist, who received the Humanitarian with Heart Award. Shafiroff has a special connection to AHA because of her departed father, who “despite having a heart attack at 51 had survived until 94 in part due to good heart health.”
The other honoree was Dr. Frank Spencer, MD, Professor of Surgery, at NYU Langone Medical Center with the Distinguished Service Award as the most significant pioneer in surgical therapy who has almost single-handedly brought contemporary heart surgery to the New York area. We can pay special respect to this man, as he is a hero to many.
The Hamptons Heart Ball was chaired by Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin, Nicole Noonan, Randi Schatz, and Tracy Stern.
Upon exiting, a beautiful gift bag was provided which featured House of Signorelli candles and a recipe book provided by American Heart Association which features heart-healthy recipes. For more information, please visit http://hamptonsheartball.heart.org
