A Toast to Legacy: Inside the Monogram Whiskey Tasting at Nubeluz

On Tuesday, June 10th, The Knockturnal gathered at Nubeluz by José Andrés at The Ritz-Carlton NoMad for an exclusive tasting of J. Rieger & Co.’s 2025 Monogram Kansas City Whiskey Solera Reserve.

Hosted by J. Rieger co-founder and spirits expert Ryan Maybee, the afternoon was a celebration of craftsmanship and legacy. Guests were treated to a curated flight of rare and signature whiskeys, with the spotlight on the newest Monogram release limited to just 1,887 bottles globally and small bites. With breathtaking, panoramic views of New York City, the setting was just as remarkable as the spirit itself. The Knockturnal felt like it was sitting on top of the world, or at least on top of New York City. It was the perfect setting for sipping a Whiskey so rare and refined.

The 2025 Monogram blend showcases a harmonious mix of Straight Bourbon, Rye, and Light Corn Whiskey, each aged for at least four years and finished in 500-liter Oloroso Sherry botas sourced from Spain’s legendary Williams & Humbert. The result is an exceptionally smooth, complex spirit with layers of dried fruit, spice, and an elegant oxidative character.

Shaped by a traditional Solera aging method, a fractional blending process rarely seen in American whiskey, this release reflects J. Rieger’s commitment to both innovation and heritage. The distillery’s Kansas City roots trace back to 1887, and that legacy is honored in both the process and the bottle itself, which bears the founding year on its label.

From the golden pour to the golden hour skyline, this tasting was more than a preview; it was a tribute to the past, a celebration of the present, and a toast to what’s next.

The 2025 edition is available at a suggested retail price of $130 per 750ml bottle, with limited distribution in Missouri and Kansas, and an allocated number available in select major markets nationwide.
