The CXX Invades The W Hotel for Men’s Fashion Week

“The line was inspired by New York City”

Fashionistas took over the Living Room at the W hotel on Thursday July 13, for Men’s Fashion Week. The CXX, a contemporary men’s wear brand, teamed up with the W Hotel and released a line of streetwear pieces that showcase NYC’s 24-7 lifestyle culture.

The evening opened up with a showing of the line and was followed up with a performance by LA-based singer and model Brandon Banks.  The designer of the line, Muhammed Elgawly, took a second to speak with The Knockturnal about what inspired his line and why he chose Banks to perform.

“The line was inspired by New York City,” said the Philly based designer.  “The pants are the Soho pants and each piece is designed by different aspects of New York.”

The line is comprised of lounge everyday-wear, like sweat pants and tee-shirts of dusty hues with bright accents.  NYC and a large red apple is plastered across the back of the royal purple Madison Tee.  But the designers favorite piece from the line is a garment a person typically wouldn’t wear outside.

“My favorite would have to be the robe, one hundred percent,” said Elgawly.  The designer is speaking about the Greenwich Flannel robe, a fully brushed flannel robe with an embroidered front in back that can be worn inside or out in the street. “It’s a flip on the hotel robe, but done in a super dope way.”

The robe wasn’t the only thing catching Elgawly attention as sweet R&B tunes played in the background.

“Brandon Banks is performing and we heard his stuff and he is super talented,” said the designer.  “Anytime we see talent like that we support it.”
