Phillip Lim presented his Fall/Winter 2016 womenβs ready to wear collection from his 3.1 Phillip Lim line Monday, Feb 15th at Skylight Clarkson North.

The show was held inΒ an expansive open loft lit with red shadowy lights and throbbing techno beatsΒ to welcome guests in from theΒ cold and snow.Β The vast space was spare with silver only lighting scaffolds over the black bench seating.Β The show started with a loud pulse of music and shot of bright lights immediately getting the crowdβs attention.
The models walked 46 looks that can be simply describedΒ as Saville Road meets ancient China resulting in look for perfect for aΒ modern professional woman. Much of the line was based of menswear suiting pieces even using a Prince of Wales check but made them exciting, new and, most important feminine. The traditional suit pieces were paired with Asian inspirations reminiscent of kimonos and Han dynasty armor. Knitwear pieces were loosely woven strips of different patterns. Leather and knits were paired with the seasonβs revival darling, velvet. Bold pieces were softened with organic touches of sequined lotus leaves or organdy flowers.
The colors ran a bold neutral spectrum in mustard yellow, burnt orange and deep olive with bold splashes of bright fuchsia and deep federal blue.
Favorite looks included a mustard velvet biker jacket over a burnt orange turtleneck and checked trouser with knit cuff ankle.
A leather mini with patent leather top. a steel blue kimono wrapped sweater over midnight blue velvet pants and a brick red velvet suit.
