Ready to wear designer Sally LaPointe had her Fall 2016 show Sunday February 14, 2016.
The designer has gotten a lot of heat recently for being one of Kendall Jenner’s favorite designers at the moment. The designer is known for her cozy textures and furry ensembles. We had the chance to hang backstage and speak with nail guru Danielle Candido of Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer who did the nails for the models.
Q: How did you work with Sally LaPointe to come up with a design for the nails?
Most designers already have an idea of what they want, so I try to bring that to life. She wanted something smart and sophisticated that was going to really pop against the organic nature of the colors in the collection. We decided on a frosted sheer nail.
Q: How did you create the frosted nail?
We used 2 colors Heaven Sent then we topped it off with Mattes a Wrap, we then completed the look with a gold stud placed right below the middle of the nail. This look is smart and just wearable by every woman.
Q: What nail trends do you see coming this Spring?
Oh! Tone on tone is going to be huge. Whether it is fading or graphic just the positions of colors. You’ll see lots of tone on tone and loads of metallics. For the Fall I think there is going to be lots of earth tones.
Q: What is your ideal nail?
I think an oval shaped nail to an almond shaped nail. That style works on everyone with a clean coat of color.
Q: What is your number 1 nail tip?
Number 1! Cuticle oil, it is such a simple fix. No one does it but it is super easy and keeps your nails strong.
