The successful outdoor cinema experience from London has crossed the pond.
With summer in full swing, it’s finally time to start doing all the summer things you can’t do any other time of the year. For a movie lover, that means a movie under the stars. Now, the Rooftop Film Club, the UK’s foremost in outdoor cinema series, has arrived to bring the same experience to New Yorkers. What sets them apart from the others is the setting, the rooftop terrace of YOTEL, a luxury hotel located steps from Times Square. You’d be hard fought to find a better location for a movie, caught between the famous New York skyline and starry sky. With top-notch equipment, noise canceling headphones, comfortable chairs, great food, and cocktails, they hope to offer a new and memorable movie experience.
The film lineup includes a mix of classics and fan favorites from Ghostbusters and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, to Oscar-winners, like Birdman. There will be four screenings a week, from Sunday to Wednesday from June 3 to September 30. Ticket prices range from $15 to $25 and include a choice of either sangria or beer and a taco. With its proximity to the 42nd street subway station it is both reasonably priced and easy to reach. It has been known to sell out in London, so make sure to get your tickets early.
