Last Thursday, was the 10th annual amfAR gala in Los Angeles. The star-studded event is held to support the foundation for AIDS research and is known for being one of the most extravagant charity galas around the world. This Los Angeles gala was no different attracting many stars like Christina Aguilera, Paris Jackson, Eva Longoria and more. Gwyneth Paltrow and Larry Gagosian were the main honorees of the evening and other special guests included Rumer Willis, EJ Johnson, and Lea Michele.

AmfAR is an excellent example of what happens when influential people in the arts and media come together with charity. Since its beginnings amfAR has raised hundreds of millions in funds and every year the star power force behind the galas help raise more.

“Arts have always been the cultural shifters of the world so if arts are involved in a charity it helps the voice get heard and it helps people feel more passionate about it,” said Frankie Grande on the red carpet. “It’s a way to communicate and it gets your message across in a much more efficient way.”

Of course you can’t forget that the amfAR gala is basically the Met Gala of charity organizations and while for many the cause is near and dear to their hearts, for others the black tie event is simply an opportunity to be able to step out in full glam. Some attendees literally pull up for the step and repeat photo opp and instagram story and honestly… that’s okay! They are posting about it nonetheless and bringing awareness to the event and organization which stands for a great cause.

AmfAR continues being one of the world’s leading non profit organizations dedicated to AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and advocacy. Can you imagine the day the cure for AIDS is found? For Actress Lea Michele, “It would be like New Years Eve in Times Square,” and to be honest she’s not wrong. Just picture the celebration and the amount of people that would benefit from the cure. Thanks to organizations like amfAR that day doesn’t seem too far at all.

The gala took place at Milk Studios in Hollywood and guests enjoyed drinks from Absolut Elyx and Perrier-Jouet Champagne.

In the meantime, feel free to check out the interviews with some of the stars from the carpet!
