David Naman’s fall/winter 2017 collection debuted on Monday at Dune Studios for the first day of men’s fashion week in New York.
The inspiration behind the collection was “elegant fantasy, the paradox between luxury and fantasy. Where the young at heart, meet the red-defined classics of old.” The presentation of the models was simple, with the focus mostly on the clothes. The men were arranged in three lines, with the ones in front standing on the floor and in back on white boxes.
Monochrome was again the trend of the season with unexpected accents of colors like sage green and burgundy. One outfit included burgundy velvet pants, a navy blazer and a dark red sweater peeking out from under. The effect of the whole collection was preppy and young and yet, as they said, a “paradox” of old shapes and styles. Such outfits would include school boy additions such as backpacks, blazers, and varsity numbers paired with more “grown up” styles such as wool turtlenecks, trench coats, and suit jackets. Plaid was used in an effective way, with muted, understated colors or blown out prints.
