Celebrating Black culture, food, and music in one event
NYCWFF is on its 16th year of celebrating food in NYC. And this year NYCWFF hosted a number of events that are perfect for any foodie. But one of the most sought after events was a new event called The Cookout, brought to us by BACARDI. The Cookout event is hosted in honor of the 50th anniversary of the birth of hip hop and aimed to celebrate Black cuisine and culture. At the event, a number of vendors showed up to showcase some of their delicious food. Some of our favorite vendors included Harlem Shake, Sally’s Southern & BBQ, Don Ceviche, and The Musket Room. On top of that, Chef JJ Johnson decided to attempt to set the world record for the largest amount of joloff rice cooked at one time during this event.

While guests were sampling some of the delicious food, they were able to pair it with a cool beverage from a number of vendors. Tequila Cazadores came out and offered guests some of their delicious canned cocktails that came in a traditional margarita flavor as well as a paloma flavor. BACARDI also had a station at the festival and served guests some delicious craft cocktails. Our favorite was the Mango Fuego which was made with BACARDI Mango Chile Rum, lime, grapefruit, soda, and tajin. And our last cocktail stop was at the Grey Goose station which gave guests the opportunity to make their own spritz using one of the delicious Grey Goose essence expressions as the base.
And it wouldn’t be a cookout with music. And to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop, NYCWFF brought some amazing performers and musicians. Some of the performers included 90s icons and Grammy-Aware winners Rev Run and Ice-T who played some of their hit songs for guests to enjoy. Once their performances were over, DJ Cassidy came out to play some classic hits that kept the energy high and the vibes flowing.
