What better way to celebrate a new sound system than to let the music do the talking? SONY brought guests to Kimpton Hotel in Midtown to experience the just-launched ULT POWER SOUND Series and decide for themselves if it lives up to the hype.
Please don’t stop the music, literally. SONY is one of the biggest players in sound systems and technology today, whether you are listening to music on your own or throwing a massive party. To celebrate, SONY hosted the ULTimate music experience, inviting guests to Kimpton Hotel to enjoy the new ULT POWER SOUND series, featuring a DJ set by DJ Katsy Lee.

The event opened up with an electrifying, colorful photo booth opportunity for guests to “cosplay” as DJ’s while listening to their favorite song. Invitees floated through the gathering, dancing to DJ Katsy Lee mixing beats that pulsed through the new ULT party speakers in every room.

All three speakers also have dynamic party lighting, are karaoke-ready with echo, key, and voice controls, and have ULT1, ULT2, FLAT, and LIVE sound modes. The collection has been refined through co-creation with acclaimed hip hop sound creators, including Grammy-nominated producer Dot Da Genius, award winning drummer, producer and musical director Dari Jones and award winning producer Dennis “ROC.am” Jones. During the event, Charlie Dao, Product & Marketing Business Manager for Wireless Speakers at SONY Electronics, shared his insights on the new launch.
What prompted SONY to release this new collection? Was it consumer data, more consumer requests?
Essentially, they are replacing the older generation speakers and updating them to a newer design. We’re also adding more value, like the XLF inputs gives the customers more options for the ULT Power Sound.
Since SONY has been around for such a long time, do you feel like you’re dominating more in the sound system space or elsewhere?
Well, we’re in everything – we’re contributing to the culture and how tech is evolving. This sound system has the XLR input. The party speakers bring value to the open market for those who are trying to be DJs. These help you do it, and it’s easy to learn. These are actually my favorite products. I go to a lot of shows and festivals, and I like to hear the vibrations and sound where there is power, unlike any others.

At the event, folks were also given the chance to win major prizes with a festival claw machine – clawing their way to win tote bags, towels, SONY headphones, or the new SONY ULT POWER SOUND series speakers. Guests also made their way to a branded hat decorating station where they had their hats embroidered with different designs so they could leave with a keepsake to remember the night. That’s not all, while torrential downpours plagued New York City weeks before, the night was clear enough to be outside on the deck where games were played like ‘cornhole’ and “red cup” bowling (which was a huge hit with all) while onlookers took in lit up views of the city skyline and enjoyed the finer things like the open bar.
