We have a couple of new gems for your playlist this week, including tracks from ADID favorite Sébastien Léger, a collab between Tommy Trash and KIESZA, the latest from Thomas Xavier, and more.
SÉBASTIEN LÉGER – ‘FEEL’ EP [ALL DAY I DREAM]
All Day I Dream favorite Sébastien Léger returns to longtime label for a summery new long-player, ‘Feel.’ The 3-track EP showcases his continued effort to step outside the traditional confines of deep and melodic house. The modular synth expert starts off gently with the EP’s title track, taking his time in building its silky, bass-led foundation into a more lighthearted fare with jazzy keyboard and synth riffs fluttering around crisp percussion and subtle vocal effects. “Lava” picks up the pace and heads in a rhythmic direction, before “Son Of Sun” closes the release out with melancholic harmonies and filtered instrumentation for a hint of nostalgia. Those choosing the vinyl route will receive a different, exclusive closer in the form of “Glory.” As a whole, ‘Feel’ makes for a fitting follow up to ‘Secret,’ his last full release on the label.
MUZANA x TEKNICOLOR – RUNNIT [SPEED HOUSE MOVEMENT]
Speed House Movement has been on the cutting edge of a growing genre, signing some of the best acts embracing the sound. As the latest acts to join the label family, MUZANA and Teknicolor are a more than worthy addition to their catalog. Their latest, “Runnit,” brings forth unmatchable energy within the format of the relatively new space of speed house. Taking the best aspects of both of their styles, MUZANA and Teknicolor join their creative chemistry eclectically while putting their own spin on the genre. From the initial moments of the track starting, it’s apparent something dark and all-consuming is on the way. A dystopian atmosphere creeps out with staticy radio-communication overlays, all of which lead to an epic, fast-paced drop that only speed house can deliver.
TOMMY TRASH x KIEZSA – TECTONIC [HAU5TRAP]
Two elusive mega-stars in their own right, Tommy Trash and Kiesza are no strangers to going off the grid. Returning to the limelight once again are frequent mau5trap collaborators Tommy Trash and Kiesza, two enigmatic superstars with worldwide scope. The transcendental pair join forces in a sonic melding of the minds for their first-ever collaboration “Tectonic.” A sweeping anthem rooted in deep reflection, “Tectonic” serves as an illustrious ode to artistic and individualistic rebirth. Arpeggiated synths swell aside poignant piano punches as Kiesza’s spellbinding vocals enter the nearly 4-minute ride. Lending the lyrical performance of a lifetime to Tommy Trash’s seductive composition, Kiesza’s sultry storytelling whisks listeners into a trance atop serenely echoing melodies. A unique collaboration for the ages, “Tectonic” is a wholly impassioned endeavor.
KICE – PUSHER
For more than a decade, Kice has been distinguishing himself as one of the hottest DJs and producers out of Chicago. His masterful prowess has propelled his reputation as a performer at high-profile venues and festivals such as Burning Man, Northern Nights, PRYSM, Sound-bar, and more. His new mammoth club hit, ‘Pusher,’ takes Kice’s expertise to a new level, with hard-hitting bass and electric riffs from start to finish. ‘Pusher’ kicks off with a rhythmic drum beat that quickly climaxes with the addition of synthesizer riffs and pulsating bass. The atmospherically entrancing and propulsive soundscape of ‘Pusher’ is prime material to set the dancefloor ablaze. Kice’s masterful house production and manipulation of sounds create a high-octane ambiance that is effortlessly felt for the track’s duration. ‘Pusher’ is a surefire rinser, ready to launch Kice back into the electronic music radar with his innovative production style.
THOMAS XAVIER – MAKE THAT KITTY PURR (FT. ERIKA LOVE) [IAMRECORDS]
Pussy On A Pedestal is the 2nd EP from Thomas Xavier since bridging the gap between his live mixes / mastering career and launching the original production side of his career – and things couldn’t be better. With the complete spectrum around his DJ/producer alias now in full operation, Thomas Xavier has been reaping the benefits. Segueing back to the single at hand, “Make that Kitty Purr,” has the bounce, rhythm, and flow to keep the party going. All of Thomas Xavier exudes a melodic G-house component, but he’s outdone himself with sensual samples (courtesy of his girlfriend Erika Love), feline-phonic inclusions, and a nasty club feel that gets the mood set just right.
TOMMY LA CROIX† – DANZA DE TROMPETA [AQUARIUS]
After spending years developing his DJ career and making a name for himself in Montreal as Thomas H., Tommy La Croix unveiled his new moniker with the announcement of his debut album, Requiem D’amour. Alongside the announcement, the Canadian DJ and producer released the LP’s first lead single, ‘Danza De Trompeta’. The track is rife with exotism and strong instrumentation, serving to introduce listeners to the masterful production and explorative style of Tommy La Croix. The high-energy offering is built around a trumpet lead, guiding the seductive and magical soundscape of the track. The captivating masterpiece transforms from beginning to end, establishing itself as a certified summertime club hit, inviting listeners to dance the night away. The grandiose percussion paired with the sultry trumpet makes for an unparalleled sound experience that sets a monumental standard for what to expect from Tommy La Croix and the rest of his debut album.
