For those unfamiliar, “It’s Carter, D***head!” This is the signature tag of Brooklyn’s own rising drill star Jenn Carter. Carter began releasing music in early 2021, and since then has skyrocketed to fame in under two years solidifying herself as a staple in New York’s drill scene along with other members of the “41” collective such as rappers Tata & Kyle Rich.
The energetic and talented group were friends long before making music together, but once they hit the studio, the rest was history. Currently 19 years old, The East New York native, Jenn and “41” who are signed to RiteOrWrong KVH Entertainment, entered into a joint venture with Republic Records, the number 1 label in the country, in the summer of 2022. Jenn and “41” have gone viral countless times thanks to their popularity on TiK Tok and undeniable talent. With over 1 million monthly Spotify listeners, Jenn isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Everything “41” touches does numbers and this is no exaggeration. “41” are currently tied with drill rapper D Thang for the most viewed freestyle/cypher on Power 105’s On The Radar, currently sitting at over 12.5 million views.
Jenn has collaborated with the likes of Asian Doll on her single “Occasion” and “Up It” ft. “41” and most recently Fivio Foreign on “Notice Me” ft. “41” which is nearing 2 million views. Carter’s rapid-fire delivery, hard-hitting bars and proclivity for beat selection are a lethal combination that’s sure to take her far.
Recently we had the opportunity to join Jenn on the set of her upcoming “Reverse” music video with Philly rapper 2Rare. We caught up with Jenn about her new video, upcoming “41” album, working with Republic and advice for other upcoming artists.
The Knockturnal: What was the inspiration behind “Reverse?”
Jenn Carter: The inspiration behind it came from just being with my mans in the v and when the first line came to me, I just went from there and then the beat was groovy, so I made a little dance to it.
The Knockturnal: What’s your vision for the video or how do you see it playing out?
Jenn Carter: I see a lot of dancing, some close up shots and just acting reckless.
The Knockturnal: Do you have any more new music on the way?
Jenn Carter: Yeah, me and 41 about to drop a new album in April.
The Knockturnal: That’s exciting! Any more visuals on the way?
Jenn Carter: Yeah I’m about to shoot another video called “Penthouse” with Kyle Rich.
The Knockturnal: What are you listening to right now?
Jenn Carter: I’m listening to “Deuce” by Kyle Rich & Jenn Carter.

The Knockturnal: Who is your biggest inspiration?
Jenn Carter: My mans.
Jenn Carter: Did you ever expect your career to take off so quickly?
Jenn Carter: I did because I know I’ve been working for a minute. I might not have gotten to this position until right now, but I have been working for about two years. When we started blowing up I didn’t expect it to be as big as it is, but I knew we was gonna go up sooner or later.
The Knockturnal: How does it feel to be so young in the position of power you’re in right now?
Jenn Carter: I feel like a lot of people depend on me. I did it faster than a lot of people, so people, they hoping I don’t fall, so I can’t fumble.
The Knockturnal: Any piece of advice that you have for other upcoming artists?
Jenn Carter: Wait your turn. Just wait your turn. Listen and don’t rush the process.
The Knockturnal: What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your meteoric rise to fan?
Jenn Carter: I learned not to rush things, you know, just wait. I learned to be patient with my career on my way coming up. I didn’t wanna force things. I wanted everything to be natural.
The Knockturnal: How does it feel to have the machine behind you now and to be working with a major label like Republic?
Jenn Carter: Probably a weight lifted off my shoulders a little bit because we’ve been doing it independently for a while. That’s why it’s been harder to try and build my career the way I want to. Now that I’m signed to a major label they help out, make things easier, make shit quicker.
The Knockturnal: Last question. Who’s your dream collab?
Jenn Carter: Nicki Minaj
