This past Monday, Hakan Akkaya showcased his edgy and dramatic pieces in his presentation of his Ready-To-Wear Spring collection.
Taking place the Skylight Clarkson Square in Soho, the Turkish designer held his NYFW Spring/Summer show where his brand presented a line of unique and memorable men and womenswear that definitely made some bold statements on the runway.
With a fierce techno playlist guiding the show, Akkaya’s collection was focused on a primarily black and white color palette. Some sheer looks were featured, as well as a solid amount of spring rompers and vests. A diverse set of models on the runway showcased his pieces in slick, metallic beauty looks to pair with the collection.
Akkaya, who got his fashion start working as a department store manager before birthing his own brand in 2010, said the show’s concept was mostly “we are all the same, Last February’s [collection] was Freedom, now its ‘Equality’” A timely theme that gave the show a specific purpose considering the current state of the world, Akkaya’s Spring/Summer 18 collection was one that kept the audience on their toes and managed to make a memorable impression.
