Chloe Stroll recently released her new single, Pedestal, on August 25th, which is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, YouTube Music, and more.
Stroll released her debut single, Run, on July 14th, and a month later, she is gracing fans with another ballad, which explores themes of heartbreak and the emotional turmoil that comes with it. Pedestal takes the feelings commonly associated with broken bonds and is described through expressive lyrics combined with a variety of soft tones and melodies. This song incorporates a range of raw emotions that many listeners can relate to.
Stroll has created a sound for herself that she describes as Modern pop, as it incorporates a mixture of vulnerability, personal lyrics, and beats that prompt the urge to dance. The Knockturnal spoke with Stroll about her song Pedestal and what she hopes fans will take away from it. She also discussed her motivation for creating this song and her musical journey.

The Knockturnal: How did you get into music? What age did you start writing songs?
Chloe Stroll: I’ve been singing since I was three years old. Music is something that has made such an impact on my life, and it is something I have always loved so much. So, to be able to do that full-time now is truly a dream come true for me.”
The Knockturnal: You released your debut single Run this year on July 14th and now you’re releasing your second single on August 25th. Describe what this musical journey has been like for you.
Chloe Stroll: It’s been unbelievable and so cool to see how certain songs have evolved over time. Some of my songs, I wrote a while back and they are still my favorites. Take Pedestal for example. I wrote this song back in 2020/2021, and I still love it, and I feel the exact same way about it today as I did the day I wrote it.
The Knockturnal: In your new single Pedestal there’s a lot of raw emotions being expressed. How did you come up with the concept for this song? Is there a back story behind the lyrics and/or message?
Chloe Stroll: Pedestal was a really emotional song for me to write, and it comes down to it being about someone breaking your heart. Whether it is through a friendship or a romantic relationship, it is truly devastating when someone you held in such high regard does that to you. I think this is a song that almost everyone will be able to relate to on a deep and personal level.
The Knockturnal: You wrote this song with songwriter Scott Harris and recorded it in just one day which is extremely impressive. What was the entire creation process like for you? After recording the song in one day, how did you know it was ready?
Chloe Stroll: I think it’s not entirely fair to say it was one day because we did go back and production took more than a day, but it was awesome. Scott is great to hang out with and collaborate with. Being able to lay down the vocals in the moment with all the feelings right there and to be so immersed in the song and emotions was unique. I didn’t know the song was ready. I didn’t leave saying this is absolutely it, and we’re gonna do it in a day, but when we listened back, the emotions captured couldn’t have been recreated. It was such a unique, fun, and interesting experience to be a part of.
The Knockturnal: What do you want listeners to walk away feeling after listening to Pedestal?
Chloe Stroll: I really just hope Pedestal is able to inspire someone or show them that they are not alone. If I am able to help at least one person get through their day, to me, that makes everything worth it. As an artist, I feel like that is my responsibility through my music.
The Knockturnal: If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
Chloe Stroll: Either John Legend, Adele, or Lewis Capaldi. Based on my music and my sound, I think those three would definitely be my top picks at the moment.
The Knockturnal: What do you feel your music says about you? How would you describe your musical sound?
Chloe Stroll: My music gives listeners a lot of insight into who I am as a person. It is all vulnerable, yet fun. I like to call it modern pop because all of my songs are really a mix of personal, emotional lyrics, with a twist of dance to them as well.
The Knockturnal: Where do you hope to see yourself in the next 5 years?
Chloe Stroll: In 5 years, I hope to still be doing what I love and making music. I feel so lucky that I am able to pursue this as my career and whatever happens outside of that is really just a bonus to me.
