The summer season is coming to an end, but the month of September re-energizes New York City with a jam-packed cultural calendar filled with exciting activities.

From the US Open Grand Slam tournament featuring the world’s best tennis players to New York Fashion Week showcasing top designers across the city, it’s the best time for both tourists and seasoned travelers to visit the Big Apple. But where do you stay? You deserve a place that exemplifies everything that makes New York so timelessly cool. The answer is the Dream Downtown hotel.

Nestled in between Manhattan’s coveted Chelsea neighborhood and the hip Meatpacking District at 355 West 16th Street, Dream Downtown is a 12-story boutique hotel that is exceptional. Everything about the hotel was flawless—making you think, was it a dream? From the hotel’s design and location to the accommodations and an outdoor swimming pool, Dream Downtown is perfect!

The Knockturnal was recently invited to experience Dream Downtown and we were blown away. When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the building’s striking design. Dream Downtown, a Hyatt property, has porthole windows that give a stylish, futuristic, urban feel that will wow all visitors. The hotel was designed by Handel Architects that brilliantly transformed—and preserved—a 1960s maritime union building into a modern, surreal hospitality space that is unmatched. The hotel’s exterior facade features a stainless steel skin that is punched with hundreds of circular porthole windows. The reflective skin also changes color depending on the angle of the sun. The architecture of the hotel is simply stunning and will leave you in awe.

Another incredible feature of Dream Downtown is Dream Beach, the hotel’s outdoor pool deck, which is a phenomenal urban oasis for relaxation and fun. Spanning 5,000 square feet, the space is located on the second floor of the property and has a full-service bar, cabanas, daybeds and a 50-foot glass-bottom swimming pool. The transparent pool looks directly down into the lobby, allowing natural light and silhouettes to pass between the water and indoor spaces. Swimmers and their feet were visible from the lobby ceiling—creating a fun photo moment to capture for Instagram. Hotel guests and day pass holders can soak up the sun with delicious handcrafted specialty cocktails all without leaving the heart of Manhattan. Dream Beach is currently serving Honey Deuces, the US Open’s viral signature drink that is made of vodka, raspberry liqueur, lemonade and honey dew melons to look like green tennis balls. Dream Beach is hands down one of the best pools in Manhattan and it’s incredible.

The guest rooms at Dream Downtown are also worth it. The building has 316 rooms and the King Room we stayed in was about 262 sq. ft. It felt luxurious and spacious by New York City standards. The room was full of stylish touches like an elaborate headboard for the king sized bed and had a desk for a work area and plenty of power outlets to charge your tech items. The room had a sublime view of the iconic Empire State Building, and best of all, the water presser in the shower was strong. It even had curtains with metal chain accents.

The Dream Downtown’s location is jackpot and doesn’t get any better. The High Line is a block away and Chelsea Market is next door. The boutique shops in the hip Meatpacking District are also nearby. The hotel also has two restaurants, a rooftop and VIP lounges, which allows guests to stay in one spot and not deal with the stress of taking Uber or the subway to another place.

Overall, Dream Downtown is exceptional. Between the elevated vibes, gorgeous architecture, relaxing guest rooms and the swanky pool, book a reservation now. It’s an urban oasis that you don’t want to miss.
