ZEDS DEAD x FUNKIN MATT – LEVITATE [ALTERED STATES]
Canadian electronic duo Zeds Dead, comprising Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan, and Norwegian producer Funkin Matt, alias Mats Ronander, dropped their highly-anticipated collaborative house track “Levitate” under Zeds Dead’s Altered States imprint. LEMONADE BABY – TINTS (FT. KEVIN COLLETT) [MAMMAL SOUNDS]
Following the recent release of his well-received single ‘Don’t Stop (Keep on Keepin on)‘, Australian artist Lemonade Baby returns with another engaging indie-electro/dance track, ‘Tints’. Featuring guest vocals from Brisbane-based artist Kevin Collett, ‘Tints” acts as the next enticing glimpse into Lemonade Baby’s upcoming debut EP, “XTRA POP”. Scheduled for an August release through Mammal Sounds Records, the album is building considerable anticipation. ‘Tints’ portrays the common experience of being deceived without realization, with Lemonade Baby illustrating the metaphor of not seeing people’s eyes through tinted glasses. DROELOE – DECISION [AEI MUSIC]
Trailblazing indie electronic producer and multi-instrumentalist Vincent Rooijers, better known as DROELOE, dropped his third single, “Decision“, from his eagerly awaited debut solo album, The Art of Change, due for release on September 15. Shifting from his earlier alt-leaning and indie-pop crossover tracks, “Decision” is an entirely instrumental piece flirting with 2-step and UK garage dance genres. Yet, its distinguishing feature lies in DROELOE’s deft orchestration of intricate layers, incorporating playful xylophones, and breezy flute and clarinet interjections. MIDNIGHT POOL PARTY – ON YOUR MIND
After an immersive songwriting retreat at a secluded beach-side cabin, the Australian duo, Midnight Pool Party, is making waves once more. Their latest single, ‘ON YOUR MIND’, is a nostalgic nod to their disco-inspired roots, peppered with invigorating dance/house elements guaranteed to ignite the dancefloor. The song encapsulates the bittersweet realization that one is better off after a breakup, a universal sentiment that many listeners will likely resonate with. Electro-soul maestro Maddy O’Neal continues her ascension in the electronic music scene with the release of “Woofer,” the second single from her forthcoming “Mind Over Matter” EP. The new track, a collaboration with rapper Cleva Thoughts, marks one of the heaviest in O’Neal’s discography, designed to encapsulate the visceral experience of bass music physically hitting the listener. MATRODA – IN THE AIR [TERMINAL UNDERGROUND]
Croatian-born house music sensation Matroda, famed for his unique ‘Matrodasound’, continues to command respect and admiration with his latest release, “In The Air.” Launched on his own label, Terminal Underground, the new anthem showcases his knack for blending classical and contemporary, encapsulating signature keyboard-driven progressions with a pulsating bassline and an emotionally resonant vocal. RAVELL x JACK TRADES – CALLING [KAZAA]
Los Angeles-based DJ and producer Ravell, in collaboration with Canadian producer Jack Trades, has released an atmospheric new track, “Calling,” under his freshly minted imprint KAZAA. This joint venture follows their successful 2018 single, “Feelin’ You,” and showcases the evolution of both artists’ unique production styles. “Calling” takes listeners on a sensory journey through the realms of house music, blending soft synths and vocals with a comfortable 125 bpm pace and a captivating high-hat sound, that is sure to make it a 2023 summer playlist staple. DAMO COX – WUB ME EP [SORTA KINDA MUSIC]
Exuding versatility and creativity, Australian DJ, producer, audio engineer, and record label founder Damo Cox releases his new EP, ‘Wub Me,’ that distinctly embodies the unadulterated joy of dance. Featuring two contrasting tracks, the upbeat and pulsating “Get With Me,” and the introspective and rhythmic “Deep Wubs,” Cox masterfully captures the varying moods of house music while still preserving his signature style. OF THE TREES – MUSICARIA/EVERGLADE MARCH (VIP) [MEMORY PALACE]
Denver’s own sound sorcerer Of The Trees recently set out to enthrall the music community once more with a double single release, “Muscaria” and “Everglade March (VIP),” on his burgeoning label, Memory Palace. The producer, aka Tyler Coombs, has etched his name in the electronic music realm with an exquisite concoction of organic bass, ethereal electronica, and thoughtful downtempo, mirroring the awe-inspiring spirit of fantasy realms such as Zelda and Runescape. The upcoming releases are another testament to Of The Trees’ evolving artistry, with “Muscaria” offering a pulsating sonic escapade and the VIP version of “Everglade March” presenting a fresh, elevated take on a fan-adored track. Riding the wave of his widely-lauded EP, The Tale of Elegos, the latest offering promises another mesmerizing exploration of Coombs’ unique fusion of the organic and mechanical in his music. MUNAN – LUV ME
South Korean/Australian artist Munan tantalizes us with his new single “Luv Me,” providing a delicious preview of his forthcoming debut EP slated for a September release. The new track, which arrives complete with a vibrant RAW FIGURES-directed video, explores the theme of unrequited love and the lengths one would traverse to capture a desired one’s attention. Co-written with his close ally Sterling Silver, who has collaborated on previous songs “Freak Like Me” and “I Don’t,” the single boasts a seamless transition from minor to major, an acoustic touch, and an intentional brightness that unfolds as the song progresses. The naturalistic sound of “Luv Me” is achieved through the use of raw demos and one-take recordings, such as the acoustic guitar recorded on Munan’s phone. VERMYLLION x AGENT O – ULTRA INSTINCT [SPICY BOIS]
Chicago-based producers and advocates of underground bass music, Vermyllion and Agent O, three years after their hit collaboration “Fridge Raid,” have joined forces again to bring us the riveting Ultra Instinct EP, now available via spicy bois. As emerging powerhouses in the bass music scene, the duo meticulously meld a diverse array of bass anthems in this new project. Vermyllion, renowned for creating robust and immersive tracks, and Agent O, with his unique blend of UK grime influences, lush synth work, and live instrumentation, provide an eclectic auditory journey designed for large sound systems. SF-born/LA-based rave maestro, a.k.a. skips, formerly known as Ducky, is back with a bang after a two-year hiatus and personal transition journey. Having previously shared the stage with industry titans like Anna Lunoe and Kayzo, and releasing on prestigious labels such as Deadbeats and Astralwerks, the multifaceted artist has been teasing his upcoming project with two nostalgia-infused, 90s warehouse anthems: “F.T.N.U.” and “My Only Mistake.” Now, fans can sample his forthcoming EP, Jawfiller, with its lead single “I.T.C.T.M.,” a playful yet subversive track laden with thumping kick drums, big beat-esque synth patterns, and invigorating vocal samples. As a.k.a. skips, his focus remains on challenging dance music norms through an unapologetically queer lens. Meanwhile, his alter ego, CK Neiman, has been equally busy with the recent debut of his photo book, i want to rest and be held by someone who loves me, which offers a raw, intimate exploration of addiction, gender dysphoria, and more, along with exhibiting his painting Mouse Trap! at LA’s prestigious La Luz De Jesus gallery. Celebrating queer identity and channeling the energy of the underground rave scene, a.k.a. skips welcomes all outsiders to join the vibrant rave home he’s creating.
SHERM x MANSHN – NO TOMORROW IN CHICAGO [HOOD POLITICS]
Chicago’s cherished DJ and artist, Sherm, renowned for building one of the largest electronic music podcasts, Sherm In The Booth, and scoring prestigious gigs at North Coast Music Festival and alongside industry heavyweights like John Summit and Armin Van Buuren, is thrilled to launch his latest anthem, “No Tomorrow In Chicago,” graced by MANSHN‘s captivating vocals. Following his ingenious reinterpretation of Frank Sinatra’s classic, “Chicago,” the new track is a heartfelt ode to the city Sherm adores, capturing its zest through its rhythmic pulse and inspirational lyrics. TIBASKO – U WANT IT / DAYGLOW EP
