A portmanteau of the words “feel” and “film”, 82MAJOR’s most recent mini-album,’FEELM’ captures their newest era of confidence through a multifaceted tracklist.
Notably, the group has maintained artistic ownership across their past discography, and with FEELM, the six members continue contributing to the lyricism, composition, and arrangement of each song. Consisting of 5 tracks, “W.T.F”, “Sign”, “CAGE”, “CIRCLES”, and “YESSIR!”, the album cycles between a diverse range of genres, from hip-hop, to R&B, to jazz, to house, and more. The EP has been circulating the music charts, both domestically and internationally, with Billboard even ranking “Sign” as #9 their “The 25 Best K-Pop Songs of 2026, So Far” masterlist.
“I was so beyond thrilled—words really can’t do it justice,” member YOON YE CHAN told The Knockturnal. “It made me feel like so many people were genuinely recognizing our group and music.”
82MAJOR has never been new to experimentation and they have been steadily on the rise with commercial breakthroughs, international performances, and awards since their debut in 2023. FEELM stands as their highest-selling album to date.
The members spoke with The Knockturnal about creating FEELM, trying on a new aesthetics, interacting with fans, and what they have their eyes set on for the future. Read what they had to say in our full conversation below.
Congratulations on the release of FEELM! How would you describe the overall vibe of this EP and how is it a bit different than some of your previous works?
HWANG SEONG BIN: Thank you! I think the keyword for this album would be “love”. It is the overarching emotion that runs throughout the entire album.
KIM DO GYUN: For this album, we made sure we put in extra effort to show a different side of ourselves compared to before. We tried to capture a more delicate and emotional feel in the album.
YOON YE CHAN: Musically, we also challenged ourselves with new genres. You’ll definitely be able to feel it when you listen to the tracks on the album.
A key aspect of 82MAJOR is that you all heavily contribute to the song-making process. What was the approach like for FEELM? Did you know exactly what kind of genres and songs you wanted the EP to include from the get go, or did you take a bit more creative freedom as the production went along?
PARK SEOK JOON: Usually when we work on songs, all the members gather together to share ideas and shape our direction.
YOON YE CHAN: That’s right. I also participated in the creative process for this album, and what mattered most to me was making music in genres we personally enjoy listening to. This album truly allowed us to explore and experiment with those sounds to the fullest.
The sound of “W.T.F” was super unique and I found that unhinged intro hilarious, YE CHAN. I have to ask, SEONG MO, what was your reaction to that?
NAM SEONG MO: When I first heard the intro, I found it so funny. That natural vibe made “W.T.F” even more charming. But I never actually said that to YE CHAN! [Laughs.]
You guys went all out with the suave suit looks for the “Sign” music video and dance performances. What was the inspiration behind the MV? Was that vibe something you’ve been wanting to try for a while now?
YOON YE CHAN: We drew inspiration from various works. Working with director Lee Su Ho of Balming Tiger for this music video was a particularly fun experience. I think blending his unique style with ours created a fresh new vibe.
CHO SEONG IL: Since it was a music video style we had never attempted before, I remember being excited even before the shoot. We hope to keep challenging ourselves with diverse styles in the future as well.
I’d love to hear what your favorite track from FEELM is from each of you.
CHO SEONG IL: For me, it’s “CIRCLES.” It’s a really great song to listen to while driving.
PARK SEOK JOON: I’d choose “CIRCLES” as well. I usually love band sounds.
YOON YE CHAN and KIM DO GYUN: Ours is “CIRCLES” too.
NAM SEONG MO: “Sign” for me. It’s a track where we got to showcase a new side of 82MAJOR, and I’m really glad so many people loved it.
HWANG SEONG BIN: I also choose “Sign.” It allowed us to present the album’s central theme of “love” in a fresh new light.
The mini-album has been making the charts domestically and internationally, with “Sign” also ranked as #9 in Billboard’s “The 25 Best K-Pop Songs of 2026, So Far”! What was your guys’ reaction to that? How does it feel, getting to go to new heights with your music, knowing that it’s reached so many people around the world?
YOON YE CHAN: I was so beyond thrilled—words really can’t do it justice. It made me feel like so many people were genuinely recognizing our group and music.
CHO SEONG IL: It almost felt unreal. Being alongside songs that receive so much love from the public with “Sign” was truly an honor.
I know you also had your debut fan concert recently. Do any of you have a favorite memory from getting to do that and interact with your 82DE?
HWANG SEONG BIN: What stands out the most to me is how genuinely the fans enjoyed and took part in the segment we prepared for this fan concert. There was a segment called “Finding Supplies,” and seeing everyone trying to help each other find the items was so heartwarming and unforgettable.
KIM DO GYUN: “Finding Supplies” was the most memorable segment for me as well. Getting to step down into the audience during the performance and see so many 82DE up close made it such a meaningful and happy moment.
You all have spoken a lot about how the creative identity of 82MAJOR is rooted in genre/concept experimentation. What are some experimentations you want to try next with your music?
NAM SEONG MO: Something with a Nu-jazz vibe sounds great too. I think 82MAJOR doing Nu-jazz would feel really fresh and unique.
PARK SEOK JOON: I’ve mentioned Afrobeats every time, but on top of that, maybe a track that’s chill with a complex beat yet easy to listen to? Is that too complicated? [Laughs.] I’d also love to try the Shoegaze genre.
To expand on that, is there an ultimate goal for 82MAJOR? Any ideal collabs or stages that you have your eyes set on in the future?
KIM DO GYUN: There are so many K-Pop groups with such diverse styles out there, but within that, I want us to become a team that showcases our own unique identity in the most distinct and peerless way.
NAM SEONG MO: I really want to perform with 82DE in a dome-scale venue. Of course, every single performance with 82DE right now is so precious and unforgettable, but I want to show 82DE even more in a larger venue.
YOON YE CHAN: Since I’m from Canada, performing at the Super Bowl or the NBA Finals Halftime Show is a dream of mine.
CHO SEONG IL: Justin Bieber looked so cool performing at the World Cup Final Halftime Show recently. If we ever get the chance to collaborate with him someday, it would feel like a dream come true.
