If you’ve been out and about lately, chances are you’ve heard all about the rise of pickleball, and how everyone seems to be buzzing about the sport lately! The fast-paced paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong has become the fastest growing sport in recent years and especially recent months, and it’s very easy to see why! It’s great way to stay active while also socializing with friends, easy to get started and even easier to learn, and so accessible anywhere, but especially in big cities where space for sports is a bit more difficult to attain.
The latter has been a prime reason for pickleball’s take off in New York City. Unlike many other sports, you don’t need to be an expert to get started with pickleball. The rules are simple, and the equipment is affordable. Plus, there are plenty of places to play, from community centers to outdoor courts in parks.
The scene just got even more accessible, however, with it’s latest installment being right in the middle of central park, in it’s iconic Wollman Rink! The rink now houses 14 courts – the largest pickleball offering in the Northeast – with 196 hours of pickleball daily.
In addition to the courts themselves, City Pickle is also offering a range of services to help players get the most out of their time on the court. This includes lessons, clinics, and even tournaments, so that players of all levels can improve their skills and compete against others.
Players can book 7 days a week from 7:00am – 9:00pm, from now until October 9th! New York City is in for a pickle-filled summer and we can’t wait!
