Raedio Hosts Intimate Event to Celebrate the Release of the Soundtrack From This Summer’s Breakout Hit Series Rap Sh!t

“This album is for a specific reason, like it sets the tone for the show. It’s like, if you want to feel summer, if you want to feel like a vibe with your girls and just like turn up and make memories, this is the album, this is the soundtrack for you.” - Issa Rae

HBO Max’s hit comedy series, Rap Sh!t  created by Issa Rae has quickly become the must see TV show of the Summer.

The series covers a lofty number of topics including the state of the music industry and the rise of social media with a strong focus on female comradery, friendship, and of course the culture of Miami. Viewers are introduced to main characters Shawna [Aida Osman] and Mia [KaMillion] however an unspoken critical main character is the infectious music highlighted throughout the episodes. Raedio, an audio everywhere company created by Issa Rae is proud to release “Rap Sh!t: Soundtrack from the Max Original Series,” bringing a curated selection of your favorite songs heard in the series with a couple of original tracks that will have you feeling good and ready to turn up. The soundtrack is available worldwide across all streaming platforms on Friday, September 2.

Executive produced by creator, Issa Rae, the first season’s LP will feature fan-favorite tracks like “Seduce & Scheme” and second single “Nann Badder” as well as new, original material from Dreezy, Tokyo Jetz, Jean Deaux, BEAM, and Raedio acts including TeaMarr, NCognita and many more. “We were very lucky to get Dreezy, like I wanted Dreezy to be the voice for Shawna because Dreezy is so lyrical and I wanted Shawna to be extremely talented lyrically even if she was kind of corny in the beginning, I wanted her talent to be undeniable,” Rae said. Because it was important to ensure that the sound and cultural influence of music from Miami were accurately represented, Raedio hosted Camp Raedio in the 305 developing the soundtrack over months, allowing the artists and songwriters to create original music while also keeping the essence of the show as a priority. “I think that it was more important that it reflected the feeling of women who have been on this journey, who have been on a similar journey of trying to find their way in the music industry, trying to make a name for themselves in an industry that is oversaturated,” said Xtina Prince, Raedio’s head of label and publishing.

In honor of the soundtrack’s release, Raedio hosted a celebration with friends, family and the cast members at Mama Shelter in Hollywood, CA. Attendees included Issa Rae, KaMillion, Aida Osman, Jonica Booth, Sarunas Jackson, Daniel Augustin, Guapdad 4000, Kat Cunning, Jessie Woo, Zach Campbell and more. Guests were treated to a special performance of the season finale single “Nann Badder” as well as songs from the official soundtrack.
