Tyra Banks showed she still got it when she brought back her moves from Coyote Ugly and reunited with her fellow “coyotes” at the 25th Anniversary screening to benefit Global Empowerment Mission.
The cast and filmmakers of the beloved 2000 film Coyote Ugly reunited for a special evening at the iconic Aero Theatre in Santa Monica. The event celebrated the 25th anniversary of the cult classic while also benefiting Global Empowerment Mission’s LA Wildfire Relief efforts.
The night kicked off with a red carpet reunion, where cast members shared heartfelt moments and reminisced about their time on set. The film was then introduced by the legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who was joined by Director David McNally and head Coyote actress Maria Bello, followed by a video showcasing the work of the Global Empowerment Mission.
Attendees then enjoyed a special screening of the film, followed by an unforgettable Coyote Ugly-style Q&A—full of laughs, surprises, and maybe even a little dancing at the bar (in spirit, at least). The panel, led by Tyra Banks, featured Izabella Miko, Maria Bello, Melanie Lynskey, and legendary, Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren, who all shared behind-the-scenes stories and reflected on the film’s lasting impact.
In a special surprise for fans, Piper Perabo, Adam Garcia, and Bridget Moynahan were video-conferenced in and projected onto the big screen, making it feel as if they were right there in the room, raising a toast to the film’s legacy.
Tyra Banks admitted she was intimidated by Bridget Moynahan on set, and they both share their admiration for each other. “You were always so bold and brave, and courageous and just let it all out, it was always inspiring,” Bridget told Tyra. “I’m in that bar going, she’s so tough, she’s so amazing, she’s so confident, she’s living this character, I’m terrified, I gotta stand up with my skinny ass, because I was 100 pounds lighter than I am today, and dance and shake nothing,” Tyra responded.
While the event was a nostalgic and joyous tribute to Coyote Ugly’s enduring influence, it was also a night with a purpose. All proceeds from the evening supported Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) in aiding those affected by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires—proving that, just like the movie’s fearless bartenders, this cast knows how to come together and make a difference.
