The Critics Choice Association (CCA) proudly hosted the 7th annual Celebration of Black Cinema & Television on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the luxurious Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. This star-studded event paid tribute to the outstanding contributions and achievements of Black talent in film and television, both in front of and behind the camera.

Who Was Honored

The evening was hosted by comedian and actor Jay Pharoah and featured an impressive lineup of honorees, including:

  • Angela Patton & Natalie Rae (Documentary Award) for their work on Daughters
  • Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (Social Impact Award)
  • Cynthia Erivo (Actress Award – Film)
  • Jharrel Jerome (Breakthrough Actor Award)
  • John David Washington (Actor Award – Film)
  • Kris Bowers (Composer Award)
  • Malcolm D. Lee (Career Achievement Award)

The event welcomed an illustrious group of presenters and special guests. Presenters included notable names such as Aldis Hodge, Ava DuVernay, Brian Tyree Henry, Kelly Rowland, and Nia Long, among others. The celebration also drew an array of esteemed attendees, including Ebony Obsidian, Harold Perrineau, Morris Chestnut, Mario Van Peebles, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
