The third season of the critically acclaimed sci-fi drama Silo is set to premiere this week on Apple TV.
Based on the bestselling trilogy by Hugh Howey, the series is set in a post-apocalyptic society, where humans are required to live in underground bunkers as way to stay protected from the toxic outside environment. Authority is maintained over everyone and the true origins of the silos are kept a mystery. However, engineer Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) of Silo 18 becomes a catalyst for rebellion throughout the series in an attempt to get answers about their suspicious circumstances. Season 3 will pick up where the audience was left at, following Juliette in a state of dementia after a near death experience.

“It’s a great starting point, to put someone in a state of memory loss,” Ferguson told The Knockturnal. “Someone who we know so well, someone who’s so capable, and so forceful in her actions, and then muting her down. It becomes a standstill and it’s fun to work from that sort of platform.”
Common and Alexandria Riley also make their return as Robert and Camille Sims. Following the events of the Season 2 finale, conflict has emerged between the couple, and a shift in their power dynamic comes into play as the Algorithm (the main force of authority over the silos) takes interest in Camille’s ambiguity.
“As an actor, that’s an exciting place to be,” Riley said, regarding the Sims’ tumultuous relationship this season, “because you get to show different levels and layers of what these two people are capable of and who they are apart, as opposed to what they were like together. It’s been really exciting to play with.”

Additionally, joining the Silo cast this season is Ashley Zuckerman and Jessica Henwick. Their characters, Daniel and Helen, will have their own storyline set in the Before Times, prior to era of silos. Parallel to Juliette’s, their arcs ask questions of their own, embroiling in a political conspiracy involving the genesis of the silos.
“What I really love about this season is that it looks like we’re just part of an origin story, but then there’s a deeper storyline,” Zukerman commented. “It really felt like we were telling one story, especially [Daniel and Helen’s] story, which was like a continuing progression of the same idea, just going deeper and deeper into this world.”
The Knockturnal spoke with showrunner Graham Yost, Rebecca Ferguson, Common, Alexandria Riley, Ashley Zukerman, and Jessica Henwick about what viewers can expect going forward. Season 3 of Silo will stream on Apple TV starting July 3, with one episode airing every Friday.
