The Knockturnal attended Tequila Don Julio and Offball FC’s exclusive “Soccer’s New Culturista Economy” panel aboard a stunning mega yacht docked at Pier 59, where leaders from sports, entertainment, and culture gathered to discuss the evolving influence of the world’s most popular game.
Actress, producer, and entrepreneur Issa Rae joined U.S. Men’s National Team forward Folarin Balogun for a dynamic conversation exploring how celebrity influence, strategic brand investment, and passionate fan communities are driving soccer’s growing impact beyond the pitch. As anticipation builds for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the panel highlighted the ways soccer continues to shape conversations across fashion, music, media, and entertainment.
Beyond the panel, the true magic of the afternoon unfolded through the conversations shared aboard the yacht. While connecting with guests, I met Maria Clara Ribeiro from Oprah Daily, where we discussed the concept of “Conversation Magic” As she described the power of meaningful dialogue and the unexpected connections created when people are present and open to one another.
I was fascinated by how that idea came to life in real time. Sitting atop the yacht, surrounded by creatives, leaders, and storytellers, I experienced the balance of laughter, curiosity, and inspiring exchanges that make moments like this unforgettable.
I’m grateful for the women I’ve encountered along my journey who have poured into me through intellectual conversations, encouragement, and inspiration. Those connections are reminders that growth often comes through the people we meet and the conversations we embrace.
Aboard the impressive vessel, I discovered that “Uncle Don” has a spectacular home away from home at Pier 59, a waterfront venue many New Yorkers may not know exists. As New York prepares to welcome the world for FIFA 2026, this event celebrated the intersection of sports, culture, and community.
Courtesy of @donjulio, this was an experience filled with connection, culture, and conversation magic.
