Starz Hosts ‘Power’ Season Six The Final Betrayal Premiere at Madison Square Garden

After last year’s big premiere at Radio City Music Hall, Starz’s hit show “Power” decided to go even bigger for the premiere of the first episode of the upcoming sixth and final season hosting the event at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden (August 20th).

Last night’s Power premiere was also the first time in the venue’s history that it hosted a television series premiere event. Aside from the cast members which include Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, Joseph Sikora, La La Anthony, Michael Rainey Jr, Larenz Tate, Rotimi, Jerry Ferrara, Evan Handler, guest attendees also included: Russell Simmons, Ice-T & Coco, Candice Dillard Bassett, Dapper Dan, Stephen A. Smith, Dean Winters, Tina Knowles-Lawson & Richard Lawson, Brandon Michael Hall, J.R. Ramirez, J.R. Smith, Rohan Oza, Lil Mama, Remy Ma and “Power” executive producers Courtney Kemp, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson and Mark Canton.

The premiere kicked off with a nearly two hour long concert, in which Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson took the stage, bringing out a number of surprise special guest which included: Snoop Dogg, Trey Songz, Case, Fabolous, A$AP Ferg, Casanova, G4 Boyz, YFN Lucci, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Dave East, Keni Burke, Alicia Myers, Lil’ Mo, Fetty Wap and OT Genasis. During the concert portion of the evening 50 performed some of his hits like “Magic Stick”, “What Up Gangsta,” “P.I.M.P.,” while also sharing the stage with O.T. Genasis who performed “CoCo”, Trey Songz who performed a new version of “Power” theme song “Big Rich Town” along with a few of his own hits like “Say Ahh” and Snoop Dogg who performed “Drop It Like It’s Hot”. 50 wrapped up the pre-screening concert by bringing out surprise music artist Alicia Myers who performed her 1980’s R&B hit “I Want to Thank You”. Media personality and actor Terrence J. served as host introducing cast members, Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton ,Joseph Sikora  and La La Anthony to the stage, as well as Executive Producers Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson .

After the cast left the stage, and the concert wrapped, the hour long first episode of the new season was screened, in which the episode picks up directly from where season five’s finale ended. 50 Cent took the stage once again following the screening bringing the entire cast out to perform the original version of the Power theme song “Big Rich Town”.

Although the series is coming to an end, producers have announced there are spin-off series in the works.

The celebration continued at Second, which hosted the official after-party where the cast, producers and celebrity guests enjoyed  signature cocktails and music by DJ Envy.
