On Monday, August 19, Saks Fifth Avenue celebrated the final season of Power with an exclusive look at the New York Flagship windows.
Joining the display of designs was the cast of the hit series. We had the chance to speak with La La Anthony, Rotimi, Jerry Ferrara, and more about wrapping the show.
If you could be any character other than the one you play, who would you choose?
La La Anthony: “That’s a good question. Someone asked that earlier and I didn’t have an answer. I think probably Tommy’s character. I just want to know what it’s like to be so ruthless, yet so charming at the same time. I think Joseph does a great job of doing that, so that’s what I would say.”
Jerry Ferrara: “I’d like to try Ghost on for size. It’d also be nice to be Tommy so maybe I can threaten people for once instead of always being threatened. That might be nice, too! I just want to put on the Ghost suits. Although Proctor does get good suits.”
Romani: “I think I’d say Tommy because he’s crazy! And I think it’d be fun to play someone who’s just so out there.”
Michael J. Ferguson: “I like Kanan. Kanan or Tommy, those are my two favorites.”
What do you value most about shooting this series?
Rotimi: “I feel blessed, man. I’m so happy. It’s one of those things where you put the work in for 5-6 years and impact the culture in the way that we do. You can only dream of that. To go down as one of the best shows of all time and to be apart of that is legendary. It’s a blessing.”
Michael J. Ferguson: “I’ve learned so much. This is like my first acting job. And everybody in the cast, for the most part, was more seasoned than I was, so I got the chance to ask them all kinds of questions that would help me with my craft moving forward. Everyone was basically helpful to me so I’m grateful for that.”
What are you most excited about tonight?
Cynthia Addai-Robinson: “I’m excited to see the first episode because I haven’t done that yet. I’m excited to be in New York which I used to call home many years ago, and I’m relieved that I don’t have to hold this secret anymore of what we’ve been working on for the last few months.”
Tell us more about the character you play?
Cynthia Addai-Robinson: “I play a character named Ramona Garrity and she’s a very strong, fierce woman. And when we are first introduced to her, we’re kind of seeing her post-scandal. So she’s somebody that’s really rebuilding herself personally and professionally. She’s got a lot of twists and turns in her storyline, but also that she navigates this very complex world of Power.”
Do snitches get stitches?
Rotimi: “Aw man, [laughter] you gotta watch season 6 to find out. But the cool thing is, you get to learn why Dre makes a lot of the decisions. He loves his daughter so you get to see him as a human being. And it makes you think, what would I do in this situation if it was my child. So it’s exciting.”
Season 6 of Power premieres Sunday, Aug. 25, at 8 p.m. ET on Starz.
The afterparty was hosted by 50 Cent at Slate NY. 50 Cent performed live and greeted fans of the highly anticipated finale series.
