SallyeAnder is a second-generation family owned and operated skincare brand that has been thoughtfully handmaking soaps and creams since 1982.
From #BeaconToBryant, their skincare stands apart from the rest because they don’t use coconut or palm oils. Instead, they use an olive oil blended base that makes them hypoallergenic, meaning anyone with sensitive skin (eczema or psoriasis) can feel safe using SallyeAnder products.
The SallyeAnder shop gives the feeling of being at a farmers market, where you would pick out fresh produce and interact with the vendor to learn more about what you’re purchasing, here it’s a similar process. Where the soaps are on display in baskets, and as a consumer you’d grab a soap of choice and put in the brown paper bags handy, thus, contributing to the entire experience of being at your local market which tends to almost always bring joy to people supporting their community.
The soothing fragrances and colorful swirls in the soaps, are brought out naturally really giving you that feeling of buying the best of the best. For instance, their Barley Grass or French Clay contains carrot oil that is proven to be sensitive skin friendly, acting as an example of how much care is put into every ingredient for your skin to enjoy.
A great point of attraction with these soaps are that you can say goodbye to your soap becoming really soft and turning into mush. This is common with soaps made from coconut oil because they tend to disintegrate faster under water / in the shower. Whereas, SallyeAnder products can last up to a month or two, instead of the two weeks we see with other soaps on the market.
It’s a common misconception to associate lather with cleanliness, when those two aren’t related at all, just because you can see bubbles or lather doesn’t mean it’s good for your skin. On the contrary actually. Instead, ingredients like olive oil play well with other ingredients, are absorbent, hypoallergenic and long-lasting (say goodbye to the puddles in your soap dish). What else could you ask for?
The CEO, Sallie Austin Gonzales, grew up around soap and skincare, as her parents started the business in Upstate New York back in the 80s. Sallie studied to be a lawyer but felt she wanted and needed more from life, that’s when she decided to join her parents and help them take the business forward. Having largely focused on manufacturing and distributing to other companies, the shift from Beacon to New York City was a choice they made because they felt it was time to bring their products to the people. Even though they were not mass exposed, Sallie felt it was time for people to understand that “you can wash with better soap.” SallyeAnder wants to ensure that the integrity of their product remains intact, while reinforcing the fact that it is a beautiful looking product that works wonders for your skin.
Sallie talks about how they are a straight forward brand that is not trying to be something they are not. The SallyeAnder products are handmade in NY and have been serving skin since 1982. You get what you see and that’s a whole lot of natural ingredients and the TLC your skin craves!
You can find the SallyeAnder store #W36 at the Bryant Park Holiday Shops, NYC (located on 6th avenue and 42nd street).
