On The Scene: D’USSÉ Lounge Debuts in New York

On Thursday September 10, D’USSÉ Cognac hosted an exclusive kickoff to the football season and The D’USSÉ Lounge with a pop up sports viewing experience at the Catch Rooftop Deck in New York’s Meatpacking district. 

D’USSÉ screened the 2015 NFL Season Kickoff game: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New England Patriots, as select influencers and invited guests attended to enjoy D’USSÉ VSOP specialty cocktails expertly paired with Cohiba cigars while watching the game.

We were immediately welcomed with a menu of the cocktails for the night. All drinks served throughout the night included some type of mixture of D’USSE. Depending on your taste buds, there were sweet cocktails available and the lesser sweet cocktails available too. We were prepped by Collin Appiah who is a representative of D’USSE on the expectations of the night which included the pairing of Cohiba cigars and D’USSE. He went from table to table schooling us on the origin of D’USSE, its content and the best ways to enjoy it which was quite interesting.

It was all a good time as people mingled, watched the football game and were served with finger foods through the whole night. There were also unlimited drinks in tow and mainstream music on constant replay. Music from Jay-Z and Pharrell were on the forefront. We were pretty pampered the entire night.
The night came to an end after the current Superbowl Champions, New England Patriots conquered the Pittsburgh Steelers. Events will be held in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, and Washington, D.C. throughout the end of the year.

Cocktail Recipes Below:

Perfect Pour  (recommended cigar pairing: Comador or Cohiba Black)

The cinnamon and spice of D’USSÉ VSOP combine with the rich, indulgent flavor of Cohiba Comador to deliver an exquisitely layered taste experience.

Ingredients:

D’USSÉ VSOP Cognac

Method:

Neat or on the rocks in a snifter.

Sidecar (recommended cigar pairing: Cohiba Red Dot)

The spice of Cohiba’s Cameroon wrapper lends the perfect pop to the sweet-sour flavor of the D’USSÉ Sidecar.

 Ingredients:

1 1/2 parts D’USSÉ Cognac
1 part triple sec
3/4 part fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/4 part sugar

Method:

Shake and strain all ingredients into a sugar-rimmed coupe glass.  Garnish with a lemon peel.

 

The Vintage (recommended cigar pairing: Cohiba Nicaragua)

The citrus notes of The Vintage cocktail bring out the bold, complex flavor of the hand-selected tobaccos that comprise Cohiba Nicaragua.

 

Ingredients:

2 parts D’USSÉ Cognac

1 sugar cube
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 dash orange bitters

Method:

Soak the sugar cube in bitters, then muddle and stir with ice and D’USSÉ VSOP Cognac. Serve in a rocks glass with ice.  Garnish with an orange wedge.
