Power 105.1 had their Powerhouse 2019 concert in New Jersey at the Prudential Center. We got a chance to cover the red carpet and also watch some of the show.
The artists on the lineup included Megan Thee Stallion, Polo G, Lil Tjay, Davido, Saweetie, Da Baby, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Lil Baby, Meek Mill and Migos. The lineup for this years’ Powerhouse concert was well balanced with some young and up and coming artists, but also had artists that blew up in 2019, and also had some top tier artists.
We got a chance to talk to Lil Tjay before his performance, and asked what’s the meaning behind being the Prince of New York and he said that, “It just means that I’m putting on for my city, trying to encourage my city to do better and I just feel like I’m the hardest working young artist coming up in my city right now”.
We also got a chance to talk Saweetie after her performance at Powerhouse and ask her how it was being on the lineup for the first time and she told us, “I came out as a guest at first and now I’m doing some cute shit and so shoutouts to Powerhouse for representing the icy girls”.
After we spoke to a couple of artists, we got a chance to watch the ending of the concert which included Meek Mill and the Migos sets’. Meek started off his set with his iconic high energy song “Dreams and Nightmares” which set the tone for the rest of his set list. He also performed “Uptown Vibes and his verse off “Tap”. The energy hit another level when Meek started bringing out New York artists. First he brought out Young M.A do her most popular song “Ooouuu” and also performed “BIG” off her recent album. Meek kept the energy in New York by bringing out Fivio Foreign an up and coming young artist out of New York to perform “Big Drip” which is his most popular song. Meek also brought out Pop Smoke who has gained the most popularity this year out of all the young artists out of New York and he performed “Dior” and his signature song “Welcome to the Party”. Meek showed his support for these artists that he’s a fan of since he gave them more stage time than he kept for himself to give them a platform to showcase their talent in front of a local crowd. The Migos had the final set of the night and have a huge catalogue of hits to choose from to perform. They performed some of their classic songs like “Handsome and Wealthy”, “Hannah Montana”, and “Fight Night”.
They also performed songs off their recent projects to showcase their solo talents. They finished out their set list with Offset performing “Clout” and Cardi B making a surprise appearance and performing her verse on it. The crowd went crazy for Cardi and the energy continued into their “Bad and Boujee” performance which ended the show.
