Guests for the opening night included Carson Kressley, Robyn Partridge, Thom Filicia, Mark Ellenor, and many more.
For many, hearing the term “5th Avenue” may evoke the visions of piles of shopping bags, sophisticated restaurants, and lavish hotels. But Brickworks, the Australian brick making behemoth, has placed its global flagship on the ritzy road as a show of full intention to be recognized as the top choice in brick home finishes.
Now that working from home is the standard for many, the next step is refreshing that home. Home buying, renovations, replacements and updating are all hot activities going into the summer. “This space isn’t just for stacking bricks. It’s about engaging with customers and designers in the real world.” said Lindsay Partridge, managing director, Brickworks. And just so, as the multi-story space caps a valuable corner near the New York Public Library’s main entrance. Particularly stunning is the wall of clear glass brick running up the stairs to the second floor accented by white and brass detail, as well as the backlit fogged brick used as part of a desk. These were just two examples of the ingenious use of brick around the space.
Located at 445 5th Avenue, the Brickworks New York Design Studio measures more than 16,100 square feet and features:
- Collaborative spaces and expert consultations: This is a design studio, fair and square. The design studio at Brickworks is where trade professionals and meet and exchange ideas, whether at the point of origination or to push a new style or vision on a product selection.
- Luxurious product collection: The Design Studio’s showroom has 20 featured product displays, including Glen-Gery’s newest 2022 product line and international products including Masonry and Urbanstone, which are exclusively on display at the New York location. Visitors can browse, touch and leave with samples, all available in a range of colors, shapes and sizes to provide design flexibility.
- State-of-the-art broadcast studio: Perhaps one of the most exciting uses of the space is the advanced broadcast studio, where Brickworks will offer opportunities to live stream events, including speaker events and product launches, host engaging podcasts, and develop educational content videos.
The opening night event was only a taste of what could happen in the sprawling space. Themed in the spirit of the Art-Deco charm of the late 1920s, the opening of Brickworks was actually a black tie affair, with gentlemen dressed in black and the ladies stepping out in lavish gowns and dresses.
Live dancing and singing by Australian superstar Samantha Jade (including a very authentic crooner) were accented by two full bars, custom hors d’oeuvres, caricature drawings, and a champagne tower. It was a truly celebratory evening and set the tone for the future of Brickwork’s Flagship: creativity and exciting possibility.
The New York Design Studio is Brickworks’ third Design Studio in the U.S. and ninth Design Studio internationally. To learn more about Brickworks Design Studios, visit https://glengery.com/brickworks-design-studios.
