Michelle De Swarte stars in The HBO original show called The Baby, which premieres on April 24th.
The series examines motherhood from the perspective of a woman who doesn’t want to be a mother. The show explores the conversation of parenthood while incorporating mystery and humor. In the eight-episode limited series, De Swarte’s character Natasha unexpectedly becomes a surrogate parent to a child she never wanted. As the show progresses, Natasha discovers the true extent of the baby’s deadly nature. Throughout her multiple attempts to get rid of the child, she slowly grows an attachment. The series implements conversations and characters that are a part of the LGBTQ+ community and the potential struggles when adopting children. The Baby offers multiple viewpoints when discussing motherhood from various sides and different characters.
The series also stars Amira Ghazalla, who plays, Mrs. Eaves, a 70-year-old who has spent the last fifty years living out of her car. As the show continues, viewers will learn how the child connects to her and others. Our correspondent Rebecca Eugene spoke with De Swarte about her role and what can be expected from the show.
